Things had began to settle down as everyone was getting used to the new reality they found themselves in as Dan was released from hospital, Karen enrolled in classes at the local community college, Haley and Nathan settled into married life while AJ and Alex simply enjoyed the perks of their new found closeness. As part of the deal of their mom going college, Lucas and Alex had decided to help out more at the cafe whether that was before or after school which for Alex meant getting up a little earlier than normal in order to help her mom with the baking side of things to make sure things were ready in time for opening and for her mom to leave on time. Alex quickly checked her home between dealing with setting out freshly baked goods and the oven as she saw that AJ had texted her to see that he'd pick her from the cafe making her thankful that she had had the foresight to bring her school things with her to the cafe that morning to save her from going back home before school. Soon it was time for her to leave as she dusted herself down to get rid of the traces of flour that had been left on her clothes while she had been baking before heading out to the front of the cafe to drab her things.

^Alex's 1st outfit^
" hey, you ready to go?" Lucas said as he popped his head into the kitchen in the back room as he knew they needed to leave now if they were going to make it to school on time as he watched as she made sure she was presentable enough for school after baking
" yeah, I'm good. I just need to grab my bag from behind the counter and a cup of coffee to go" Alex said as she knew she was to need some coffee if she was going to get through the school day ahead of her as they headed into the main floor of the cafe
" is AJ picking you up or are you coming with me?" Lucas said knowing she wasn't cycling to school since she had left her bike at home as he tried to make his peace with the fact she was still dating AJ after all his warnings since he didn't want to lose his sister
" AJ's picking me up, actually he should be outside already" Alex said as she headed towards the coffee machine to brew up two cups of coffee as well as moved to the counter where she placed some freshly baked muffins into a bag for the journey to school
" hey, Deb. We're going take off, alright" Lucas said as he watched as Alex placed the bag of baked goods into her backpack that she had collected from behind the counter as he got the attention of the older Scott woman who was helping run the cafe for their mom
" Oh Nathan... Sorry. Force of habit. Lucas." Deb said as she accidentally let the wrong name slip causing Alex to give Lucas a look as things suddenly became a little awkward between them all as it was clear that Deb was still adjusting to life without Nathan
" It's OK...Actually that reminds me. I left my history book in the kitchen" Lucas said as he walked back towards the kitchen as he tried to get away from the awkward situation as he remembered leaving his book in there after studying a little with Alex earlier
