*knock knock*
I woke up to a knock somewhere in the mansion
"huh...-" I said as I slowly opened my eyes and looked around my room
*knock knock*
"w-what the..-"
I rubbed my eyes tiredly, as I wondered what was making that annoying noise-
*KNOCK KNOCK*
The knocking intensified and It made me jump out of my bed and fall to the floor
Oh jeez. Ok I'll just- I'll just go get my boots and check out what that noise is all about, I guess.
I sat down on the floor as I looked around for my boots
Once I found them, I put them on and walked over to where the noise was coming from
I think it comes from the main entrance? I wonder who's at the door... nobody really comes to visit here so I have no clue who it could be
Maybe it's Apple, she sometimes goes out for a walk and gets herself locked outside
But what is she even doing out in the middle of the night-
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
"i'm going, i'm going-" I half-shouted as I walked over to the main entrance door
Rain was pouring outside, probably the reason as to why the knocking was so agitated in the first place, whoever is outside must be getting all wet out there
I grabbed the door knob and opened the main entrance slowly because of how tired I was
"who is it..?-"
I looked up and saw something I couldn't believe at first...
"wait... PAINTBRUSH?"
They were outside by the door, standing in the pouring rain, i looked at them up and down and noticed their injured leg, as well a lot of more smaller injuries
Not only that, they were also holding a small pot with a blue flower inside? Why are they- Uhhhh. I'll ask them later
"Can we umh... come in?" they said in a quiet-like voice, huh. Weird.
"We? You and who else???"
"Lightbulb!- well... uh, she came with me but umh."
"Oh! uhhhhh- yesyes, come in! don't stay out here in the pouring rain"
"Thank you-"
I watched as Paintbrush entered the mansion and i looked around for Lightbulb
"Wait, where is-"
I felt a small tap on my shoulder that made me turn around and I saw Lightbulb already inside of the mansion
"WOAH- HOW DID-"
"W-Where's the kitchen." she said in a very low tone, without even looking to my direction
What. Well... that's straight to the point, uh. I guess?
"Huh- oh. Uh, its over there" I said as I pointed to the corridor
"it's at the end of the corridor but-" I continued to say but Lightbulb started to leave In the direction of the kitchen
That's so not Lightbulb acting??? What the hell???
I saw as she walked towards the corridor and quickly turned over to Paintbrush
"Hey?"
"Hm..?"
"what's with you guys??? You're both acting SO weird"
"We- well.. I'm..."
"yeah???"
"I'm sorry Im...I'm not ready yet" they said as they looked away and gripped the potted plant very firmly
"No. Tell me, you're both acting too weird and you guys literally woke me up in the middle of the night, you could AT LEAST tell me what's going on, either that or you can get out and be under the pouring rain " I said and Paintbrush just sighed as they went over to the entrance
"Wait what are you-" I said as they opened the door and left without any hesitation whatsover
And just like that, they left.
"Im- what the hell. I was just... I wasn't being serious. I was just trying to be forceful- I'm."
I looked back at the kitchen as I just stood there confused
Those two are acting so weird- I mean, since when does Lightbulb avoid talking and since when is Paintbrush so... afraid of everything?
And as I was confused while getting lost in my own thoughts, a familiar voice came up to me
"HEY GIRLLLLL WHATSSS UP???"
I turned around and saw Bow floating very ghostly, like all good ghosts do, while looking directly at me
"Oh, hi there Bow! Sorry uhhh, did I wake you up?"
"Nah girl, ghosts don't even sleep, we fake sleep"
"Oh."
"Anyways. Why are the gays here?"
"Th- The gays????"
"Paint and Light, obvs"
"OH. Well, they didn't tell me... yet, but it seems like something happened between them, Paintbrush looks off and literally just LEFT for no reason at all, and Lightbulb... well, she just straight up ignored me! Basically. They're both acting SO weird???"
"Damn. I mean, I can go try talk to Light while YOU talk to Paint if, ya wanna"
"You would do that for me?"
"Do you think I would not? OF COURSE I WOULD! You're like, my BESTIE and ilyyyy" she said and attempted to hug me but went right through me
"oh. Right." She said as she sighed
I chuckled a bit and smiled at her
"Okey, thank you! I'll see ya later then, bestie" I said as I chuckled at the word bestie
"Yup!!! Cyaa bestieee!"
I saw how Bow went through the walls to the kitchen, I wonder how she knew that Lightbulb was there- uh. Not the point now
I walked towards the entrance door and opened it slightly to find Paintbrush sitting down on the stairs
They were just staring at the rain so I decided to sit down next to them
"..."
Neither of us said anything for a while, and we both just sat down there in silence
It was not awkward though... it was just, a moment of silence for us to chill out before having a conversation
We sat down for a while, looking at the rain as it poured down until I decided to break the silence, it had been long enough already and I really need to know why they're both acting so weird, and why Paintbrush won't let go of that plant already too
"Hey umh... Paintbrush?"
"Hm..? What is it?"
"How did you guys get here?"
"Oh. uh... we got lost"
"Lost?"
"Yes"
"How? Werent you both in the hotel?"
"We uh... ran into a problem, ok?"
"What problem?"
"Look I- umh. I don't want to talk about it" They said as they held themself in an embrace
"Look Paintbrush I have- NO clue what happened but you both are acting very VERY weird and if you don't tell me I'm not gonna be able to help you in any way possible, ok?"
"No. You don't understand this. You CAN'T help. Nobody can... And I know what I'm talking about."
"Awh, come on, it couldn't be THAT bad, ok. Let me guess... Did you get mad while at the hotel? Is it that?"
"...What."
"I mean uh. I'm just guessing ok? You really aren't giving me much info to begin with-"
"..."
"Is it uhhhh.. maybe... that you and Lightbulb accidentally broke a window and ran away!"
"...stop trying."
"Uhhhhh... awh come on Paintbrush it cant be that bad, it's probably just something stupid"
"s-something stupid...SOMETHING STUPID??? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?????? YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS, DO YOU?! YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND YET YOU KEEP TRYING. IF YOU KNOW NOTHING THEN STOP TRYING TO GUESS AND LEAVE. ME. THE. FUCK. ALONE."
I opened my eyes and gasped, Paintbrush had never shouted like this to me before-
"w.woah." I said under my breath
They quickly turned around and faced me, tears running down their face non-stop
"I-I'm so so sorry.. I just...- Im.. AGH!" they said as they grabbed their bristles with anger while they cried their eyes out
"I.Im..I'M SUCH AN IDIOT!! GOSH.- I- I... I keep fucking up- I...I can't- Im... I'm sorry...I'm so so sorry I...-"
"heyheyhey, chill out, it's fine! I'm the one that's supposed to say sorry! I was such a pushover, you don't have to worry, really"
"N-No... Im the one supposed to say sorry.. but to Lightbulb...-"
"Huh?"
"Look I'm- I dont want to go deep into it... b-but I did fuck up horribly b-bad a-and I..."
They started to get their eyes filled with tears again, gosh. I want to know what happened but now is probably not the time
"Paintbrush you're stuttering-"
After I said that they turned around and looked away
"I-I'm sorry I-I don't know if I c-can talk about it n-now I-I..."
I pulled them into a hug without hesitation
"Hey, it's fine Paintbrush... Let's leave this for tomorrow, ok? Let's just go inside already, it's too cold out here"
Paintbrush nodded silently
"Y-Yes please.." they said as they stood up and looked down at me as they grabbed me by my hand and helped me stand up
I went over to the entrance door while Paintbrush cleared away their face from crying with their unoccupied hand while holding her plant in the other one
"So.... I'm guessing you and Lightbulb will want two separate rooms?"
"Yeah..."
"okie-dokie"
I gave them a reassuring smile and opened the entrance door for them
"Follow me, I've got a room good enough for you to stay in!"
"Oh? Uh- okey..?"
I went over to the stairs and walked up them till the second floor
"Will you guys need a towel or smth? I say it because of the rain and all... I mean- don't get me wrong but.. you do look very... um. wet."
"Uh.. yes please"
We kept on walking to the room I was going to give to Paintbrush, and when I got there I opened it for them
"Okey SO- this is your room for as long as you stay, let me just go get you a towel and i'll leave you to rest until tomorrow because it's nighttime and you should really sleep, at the very least a couple of hours"
"Alright..."
They entered the room but stopped mid-way to look back at me
"Can you umh.. go check up on Lightbulb for me..?"
"Oh? yeah, sure!"
"Thank you- And see you in the morning" they said as they smiled and closed the door behind them
Paintbrush seems calmer yet more afraid, it's very weird seeing them so.. vulnerable, i feel bad for them, I hope it wasn't something too bad whatever happened to them
Oof... this sure was a busy night
Welp, time to go check on Bow and see how she is doing with Lightbulb
I hope Lightbulb didn't bring any trouble to Bow... nor vice versa
As i thought about this I started to walk towards my room to sleep
Hm.. I wonder if we accidentally woke up Apple.. I hope not-
