A day and some hours later, on a cold January night, Seren’s and Blackfall’s child was born.
The following night, Blackfall passed in his sleep, perhaps because he did not get the heir he had wanted.
As Seren did not have anyone she idolised to name the child after, she settled with Evangeline Wilma Florence. Evangeline Wilma Florence Elffire. Lady Evangeline Alinac. Florence was a name her first husband would have liked to name his daughter after, Wilma was after the name of the child’s father, and Evangeline because it was hopeful.
Because, as much as Seren did not want to admit it, she was now free.
