I look into his eyes and I can tell he's serious. Whatever Calum has to tell me might change everything.

He takes a deep breath, collecting his thoughts.

"Thia, this is really personal and no one can know, OK?" He asks me

"Of course Cal, I won't tell soul" I promise, crossing my heart hoping to get a chuckle from him.

It doesn't.

He takes a couple more deep breaths before starting with "I'm in love"

"Awe? Really that's so cute! With who?" I ask him

He opens his mouth to reply and I think I already have an idea. But of course, my stupid phone chooses this moment to ring. I waywardly grab it from my jean and see that the call's from Luke. I slide my thumb across the screen and answer it

"Hello?" I mumble into the phone

"Hey babe, I've been texting you all day. Are you OK?" He replies

I nod, then I remember he can't see me so I say yes. I hear his sigh of relief over the phone

"So, you want to hang out?" He asks

"Um. Sure, I'll be over in half an hour." I reply, aware of Calum listening to the conversation.

Luke confirms and hangs up. I put my phone back into my pocket and face Calum again. I can already tell that the moment is lost. I try to get it back going anyway

"So you were saying?"

He shakes his head

"Forget it, I can tell you another day" He says, getting up and brushing the dust off his jeans.

I sigh. Who is he in love with?

He hides the soccer ball in a empty trunk by us and starts walking back, not looking back to see if I'm following. I look up to the sky and sigh as we walk to the field in an awkward silence.

He walks me to Luke's house in silence. When we get there I stand at the door with him.

"It was nice hanging out with you" I say, smiling because it truly was

He nods in reply, still not saying a word. I purse my lips and nod. I knock on Luke's door and ILuke yells out "The door's open!" I walk into Luke's house as quickly as possible, avoiding any more awkward goodbyes with Calum. I murmur a quick goodbye and close the door, giving a sigh of relief.

I yell out Luke's name, wondering where he is. He yells at me that he's in his bedroom and to come up. I go up the stairs and assume the door with Green Day and Blink 182 stickers on his door. I knock quietly and I'm greeted with a smiling, flat haired Luke.

"Hey" I say, smiling wide

"Hi" He says back, embracing me in a hug

I walk in and let myself forget about Calum and let Luke take my mind off of everything.
