Maybe I shouldn't lie anymore
Maybe I should've tried a little more
(Nothing, Nowhere-Upside Down)Anya was late. She had completely forgotten about the meeting with the producers and now found herself running upstairs, praying with all her heart that no one had arrived yet. In vain, unfortunately.
"Green, good morning." Charmaine Diyoza, the show runner of Spike, the TV series she starred in, coldly welcomed her.
"I... The traffic." the actress lied.
"Yeah, of course. Sit down." the producer ordered her, inviting her to take her seat in front of her. Only then did Anya realize she wasn't alone in the presence of Diyoza. Sitting at the desk there was a woman of almost her age, of clear Latin origins. She was tremendously familiar, but Anya just couldn't figure out where she might have already met her.
"Green, this is Raven Reyes. She is playing one of the key characters this new season." Diyoza explained. Anya widened her eyes, in disbelief.
"Nice to meet you." the Latina said, stretching her own hand. Anya ignored her.
"Raven... Raven Reyes?"
"Yes, Green. The idea was to build a relationship between your two characters, it could be interesting.". Anya said nothing. She wasn't able to.
"Green.". Raven Reyes. That Raven Reyes.
"Green." Anya raised her own gaze. Diyoza and Raven were staring at her, confused.
"Are you okay?" the latter asked her.
"I-I... Yes, I'm fine." Anya answered. "That's a great idea." she stated later, trying to keep calm.
"Green, are you sure you're feeling good?" Diyoza asked, worried. "You're pale." Anya nervously ran her hand through her hair. Oxygen. She needed oxygen.
"Yes, maybe I better go get a breath of fresh air. I must have eaten something strange." she said. "I'll be right back." She left the office and rushed down the stairs. Once outside the building she breathed deeply, trying to calm herself as much as possible. Raven Reyes. She couldn't believe it. How did she not recognize her?
"Hey.". Anya turned around. Raven was in front of her, a cup of tea in her hand.
"When I don't feel well drinking something hot helps me." she explained, handing her the cup. Anya thanked her. She took a sip of tea and sighed. She sat on the ground, her head in her hands.
"Anything I can do?" Raven asked her. Anya shook her head. She raised her gaze. Her eyes crossed the hazelnut ones of the Latina, who had sat next to her. She felt so guilty at the time. She might probably have looked crazy to her.
"Raven, do you know who I am?" she began. It made no sense to hide the truth. Not if they should have worked together.
"Yes, I know it." Raven answered. "When they offered me that role I had no idea who was starring in this show. No offense, but I've never seen a single episode, I only accepted because my agent insisted and... I can refuse the role if..."
"No." Anya interrupted her. "Listen, what happened between you, Lexa and Clarke is none of my business. Sure, maybe you could have avoided saying those things, but..."
"I know. And trust me, there's not a day I don't want to go back and change the past. Unfortunately, it's not possible and it's something I'll have to live with forever.". Anya looked at Raven, her gaze softened. She put a hand on her leg and smiled at her.
