Zainab's POV

I was so happy today.

I woke up in the morning to find the world's most stunning sight in front of my eyes- my Shaiq's calm sleeping face. His hand was embraced in mine and perhaps that was the reason, years later, I was able to sleep peacefully. He was close to me after so many lonely days in which I was alone or he used to just leave me.

Then, that day came which he was waiting for the most. I colored his dull morning with my three words. I confessed to him and this prompted to happen what I was craving for so five years; his closeness, his embrace, his touch, his fragrance, his love, his smile, and his cheerfulness. I prayed to Allah to give my Shaiq back and he bestowed me. He accepted my wish. He gave me Shaiq.

I was so happy, so happy that I felt like I was able to fly in the sky without wings.

It looked like my longing for him had eventually come to an end. I got him back.

He kissed me! That kiss was the mark of our new relationship. I gave him what he wanted and what I took away from him five years ago.

Do you know what was more beautiful than this? Him waiting for me in the parking lot of my office for hours without even telling me, in that stunning attire. He himself was not looking anything less than handsome. He stole my breath when I laid my eyes on him as soon as I came out of the building.

He told me he was going to take me where he first met me and then I realized why he was so dressed up. This evening would put the first brick in our newly built relationship and the upcoming night would be special for both of us.

I was happy. So happy!

I found myself standing in a vast garden where everything was so beautiful. There was a bed of red roses encircling my lower body and the fragrance was soothing me internally.

"Zaini!" He called out my nickname given by him with the utmost affection, and then, within a split second, I felt his presence near me as he encircled his both arms around my stomach. He placed his face on the crook of my neck and nuzzled which sent shivers down my spine. He smiled and turned me around by putting his hands on my either shoulder. He cupped my face with his palms and looked at me with love twinkling in his eyes. He had a charming smile on his face which always made me swoon over him altogether. He leaned near to my face and placed his rough yet warm lips on my soft one.

"I love you. I love you so much, Zainab... My Zainab...." He pulled away from me to profess this before again bending due to my mouth and sealing my lips. I got lost in the kiss like always, savoring the moment; more like loving him.

My mind started becoming numb and the view in front of me got hazy. Suddenly, I felt pain; immense pain in my abdomen.

"Zainab!" I heard his panicked voice and then the sound of water splashing when he rushed towards me as his feet touched the muddy water. The picture changed. With my half-opened eyes, I looked at myself. My whole body was surrounded by dark, red fluid, not flowers. The blood was continuously oozing out of my stomach. With every passing minute, my breath was coming in labor and my sight became murky. Within a split second, Shaiq crouched down near me and held my weak arms in his strong ones. He placed my head on the front of his elbow and stroked my cheek.

"Zz...Zainab....op...open your eyes...please keep on opening your eyes," he mumbled with broken words.

"You will be fine...You will be fine," he whispered, more to himself.

He took off his shirt and wrapped it around the wound on my abdomen to stop the bleeding. I glanced at his face; his eyes were teary and his expressions were miserable. He looked broken to me. His chest and the white vest which were revealed after the removal of his shirt were covered by my blood.

"What...what should I do? I don't even have a phone," he murmured before leaving my head and standing up. He rushed ahead and then got out of my sight, only to come back a few seconds later. I was sure he went to look out for some help but who would come here- in this barren place that too in the night and after such heavy rain.

"Zainab...Zainab, look at me. " He cupped my face in his broad palms and made me look into his eyes. "I...I try to do something. You...you keep on opening your eyes. Okay?"

"I... I am in pain, Shaiq. I am in so much pain. I am no...not able to bear it," I said at which he squeezed my hand and pulled me into his chest. After a while, we pulled apart. He placed his both hands on both sides of my face and pushed some strands of my hair behind my ear which got stuck due to the water rain and my tears.

"I won't let anything happen to you. I...I look out for something helpful," he asserted and was about to get up again before he froze in his position when the ringtone of a mobile reverberated in this lulled surrounding. Suddenly, Shaiq's eyes brightened up and he looked at me with hope. He scrambled his way towards the car. He went inside it.

"Ahmad...Ahmad, can you hear me? Do you? Ahmad are you there?" A few moments later, I heard his voice coming from afar as he again sat down near me and took my hand in his. He had a phone spotted on his ear. Where did this phone come from? He and I both got our mobiles snatched by that robber.

"Yes, it's me Shaiq...don't ask questions now. I sent you a location. Please come here with your car quickly. We don't have time...Ahmad, you heard me right?" He disconnected the call right after and again diverted his attention to me.

"You will be fine, Zainab. I am going to take you to the hospital. You are going to be fine, hmm?" He said while caressing my cheekbones with his fingers. "Here, drink this," he forwarded the bottle of water towards my lips and I had no other option than to sip it.

Slowly, my vision was getting foggier. Once the sight of his bright eyes now got replaced by a vague picture of him. My breath hitched as I felt an intense tinge of pain in my stomach. I knew I was going to become unconscious or maybe die soon due to my anemia even though Shaiq had tried his best to stop my bleeding. I suddenly felt my soul sucked out of my body. A while ago, he was so happy and now, his eyes had tears. I didn't care about myself but what about him? The moment I thought I was going to live happily with him, fate told me who was the boss here. I couldn't give him anything in my whole life. He sacrificed his happiness every time for me and I became the reason for his miseries. And now when I decided to make him happy, nature was against it. He was so unfortunate to have someone like me in his life who added nothing but disappointments in his life.

I slowly raised my almost lifeless arm and placed my hand on his face. Maybe I was getting the last chance to touch him. I gradually moved it from one cheek to another without realizing that the blood on my hand was now coloring his face. Tears started coming out of my eyes. Probably it is for the last time, but I wanted to let him know that I loved him. Not since we got, married, but for years. I wanted my breaths to give me a few seconds so that I could tell him this.

"I...I love you Shaiq. I love you crazily...Ple...Please forgive me for always hurting you but...but you...but remember that I love you as my husband...."

"Zainab, open your eyes...Zainab....you can't do...do this to me..." These were his last words before I found myself getting oblivious of the surroundings altogether. But I was more than happy to be in his arms in the last moments of my life.
