1986, the year of the tiger.

"Most Chinese people believe in the 'Chinese Five Elements', and 1986 is the Fire year. People born with the Chinese zodiac, Tiger, are naturally smart, quick-witted, and good at reading and love extracurricular activities, so they have been loved by teachers since childhood. They are honest, serious and talented" I read off People's magazines latest issue to my father as we enjoy our breakfast together

"You know, I read the other day, that only a few people watched the explosion of the Challenger shuttle. Live." Dad states to me, not actually sure he just heard me. I put the magazine down and look over to him.

"It technically wasn't an explosion, there were no shock waves or a big bang, but, how did you watch it? All broadcasting cut away" I shovel cereal into my mouth and look up at Dad

Dad leans into me and points to the roof "That brand new satellite dish you all said was a piece of junk"

I nod my head slowly "Right. Lucky you then" I finish off my cereal and lean back into my chair

"You down at the station today?" Dad questions me. I shake my head "You haven't been there since February, what's going on?"

I simply shrug my shoulders and avoid eye contact "I don't know, they just don't need me"

"Samantha, your mother and I know that you spend all your time touting kids at school, isn't it time to move on?"

"What are you talking about?" I laugh the situation off and stand up from my seat, gathering my bowl and Dads plate to place in the sink "I enjoy helping out all the kids and it's something I've done for such a long time" I check the time on my watch, noticing Mike isn't down and ready for school "Why is it such an issue?" I question him one more time before leave the kitchen and check on Mike

Truth is, I'm petrified to leave Mike and Nancy alone. I don't want something to happen at school and I'm not there. Weather it be and actual medical issue or something relating to the Upside Down. So I'm gripping onto school as a way to stay closer to Mike and Nanc - even the others, Max, Lucas, Dustin, Erica.

"The hell are you doing? It's ten after" I burst into Mikes room with Nancy practically out the front door already. I see Mike laying on his bed in a white singlet and pants reading a pice of paper.

"Oh, shit. Shit!"

"Thirty seconds or were leaving without you, okay? Thirty seconds. We got to get to that pep rally, let's hustle" I shut Mikes door and make my way down the stairs
