Fireworks go off in the distance of Hoppers cabin as El is trying to explain to all of us what she saw.
"He said he was building something. That it was all for me" El looks up at Max as she sits between Max and myself as Lucas paces back and forth behind the two girls
"Building something? Is he talking about the flayed?" Max asks as she looks up at me
"He must be" I say softly
"So, he's building an army, just like we thought" Lucas continues to walk back and forth
"Yeah, but he's not building this army to spread"
"He's building it to stop Eleven" Will finish's off Mike's sentence
"Last year, El closed the gate on him. I have a feeling that really pissed him off"
"Like, royally"
"And the Mind Flayer now knows that she's the only thing that can stop him. But if she's out of the way"
"Game over" Lucas stops walking and looks over to Mike
"He also said he was gonna kill most of you"
"Yeah, well, that's nice. It's probably Samantha he's gonna save" Max turns her body so she's looking away from El
"Sam was there" All their eyes shift to me as I sit closer to El
"What do you mean?"
"You were crying, your arms were around his waist. Hugging him and kneeling down on both knees, between him"
My heat falls out of my chest. El doesn't look at me anymore but my eyes don't leave her face.
"And he placed his hands on your face and looked down to you" El then looks back up at me and her voice cracks "He said that he needs you to save him"
I take a deep breath in and jump up and quickly walk away over to the kitchen where I grab a class and fill it up with water.
I want this to be all over.
Nancy hears something in the distance around the fireworks. She pushed herself off the wooden beam near Jonathan and walks over to a window that only shows the endless pit off darkness and trees.
"Do you guys hear that?" She whispers. They all sit up a littler more and I make my way over to stand beside her to what she's looking at. I hear it too but don't feel it. I look over my shoulder and look at Will and silently ask him if he feels anything. He shakes his head and we look back out to the window.
"It's just the fireworks" Jonathan tries to calm the both of us down
"Billy" Nancy turns around and looks at El "When he told you this, it was here, in this room?"
