One summer can change everything. It is amazing how just one summer can change everything. It's started off by finishing school. Graduation. Biggest and best day of my life. My whole family were there: Mom, Dad, Nancy, Mike and Holly. Even Grandpa and Nana showed up. I graduated with all my friends, Jennie, Laura, Heather, Courtney, Megan and Rachel. Jennie and I kind of split our own ways but still keep in touch every now and then. A call here and there. But this summer Laura, Heather, Courtney, Megan, Rachel and I got close. We were going to the pool and talking about girl things. Mike and I are still close. Nancy and I have our differences but at the end of the day, we're sisters. I'v also became closer with Max and El. During my summer, my aim was to avoid Hopper simply because I didn't want to be working in the department on my holidays. I got into tutoring a bit more with some of the kids around town. Mainly Math, English, Science and History. I helped El how to write and spell when she would come around to our place and I helped Max a lot even though it was the last thing she wanted to do. Tutoring Max also meant I saw Billy and over the summer, we fooled around and did some things together. We're not dating though and I don't know if we ever will. Moms been acting different. Paying more attention to me. Being more of a mother to me. Loving me. Caring for me. And Tommy H and I have moved past out differences. Doesn't mean we will be hanging out like we did when we were in diapers but it also doesn't mean he's a stranger.

I walk into Melvald. The store Joyce works at and I hear Joyce's voice talking to someone but I was too caught up in what I desperately needed right now. I walk down the aisles and spot Joyce next to the what I needed. Tampax. Joyce turns around and sees me. I keep my sunnies on and a cigarette hanging out of my mouth.
"Oh Joyce, thank god it's you here" I look at her and grab one of the boxes off the shelf
"Hi sweetie"
I turn my attention to the man standing in front of us
"Hopper, it's -it's so good to see you here, um - how have you been?" I ask him as causal as I can but not doing a very good job, as I place the tampons back into the shelf, take my cigarette out and lean my arm against the shelf and cross my right foot over my left
"Yeah yeah umm - great yeah. Okay" Hopper then looks away awkwardly and avoids eye contact with me
Me still watching Hopper be awkward, Joyce leans over "Just take them" she whispers to me
"Thank you" I quickly grab them and get out of the store as fast as I can before I make it worse

The six of us jump out of Laura's car, stretching out limbs as four of us were squished in the back seat of her little, hot car. We get into the pool. My eyes getting drawn to the lifeguard that everyone drools over. Billy. Then to the middle aged women practically opening their legs for him because their husbands aren't giving it to them. Billy sits on top of his tower, blowing his whistle when someone is running around the pool or doing flips into the pool.
He catches me looking his way and gives me a smug smile and a head nod towards the pool telling me to get my bathers on and get in the pool. I roll my eyes playfully at his gross behaviour. The girls and I find a place to set our stuff down and strip down to our bathers. Billy watches from his spot as I get into the water.
After a couple hours of swimming around and a couple of winks and smirks between Billy and I, we all decide to get out. As I'm wrapping myself in my towel to dry off a little I feel a tingling sensation behind my neck like all the hairs are standing on its ends, my stomach begins to feel weird and I get the slight chills. I get snapped out of my thoughts then I hear Billy blow his whistle at some kid. I shake the thought and try to convince myself that I got cold as I got out of the water.
Hours have gone buy and we're all laying on the sun chairs getting a nice tan with cigarettes out of our mouths when Rachel calls my name from her spot.
"Hey Sam, isn't that your Mom?"
"What?-" I sit up instantly to see where she's looking. I take my sunnies off to get a better look.
"Holy shit" She's laughing and talking to Billy as he leans in close to her
I take my cigarette out, throw it to the ground and walk over to the side of the pool where they're standing.
"I just don't think that you've had the right teacher. It will be the workout of your life" I hear Billy say to my Mom Me walking up to Mom, behind Billy, catches her attention.
"Honey, I didn't know you were here" she says to me with open arms and a smile on her face
"Yeah, I've been here all day with the girls, what's going on?" I as suspiciously, switching my gaze between Mom and Billy
"Not much actually, this lovely life guard and I were just having a chat about - about this great weather we've been having recently in - in Hawkins" Mom tells me as she gestures between Billy, herself and the sky, clearly lying
"Is that right?" I ask with my eyebrows raised
"Yeah, definitely - uh but I was just about to leave to go home - to my husband and gorgeous four children" She says to me with a motherly smile "So I will see you at home"
Billy and I watch as Mom walks away quickly and gather her things.
"So your banging me and my Mom huh?" I ask Billy as I stand beside him not taking my eyes off Mom
Billy's head snaps towards me "What? No, I was just going to give her some extra swimming help" He tells me seriously
"She's a forty year old woman Billy, she doesn't need swimming lessons from an eighteen year old. And it"ll be the work out of your life? Yeah I've heard that one from you before" I say to him as I turn my gaze to him
"Are you jealous?"
"No"
"Do you want swimming lessons too?" He asks me with a smile on his face
"No"
"Are those new bathers?"
I wait a moment and look down at me feet "Yes" I mumble to him
"They're cute" I roll my eyes "So what time are you coming around tonight then?" He asks me as he steps closer to me
"No way, I'm not coming near you after your dick has been inside my mother, oh my god" I tell him as I step backwards
"Tomorrow night then?"
"What? No!" I walk away from Billy and back over to the girls
