Dustin, Lucas, El, Mike and I all sit on the couch in the basement with El asleep.
"But dark? And empty" Lucas starts up.
"Empty and cold- wait, did he say cold?" Dustin asks.
"I don't know" Lucas tells him "The stupid radio kept going in and out"
Dustin sighs "It's like riddles in the dark"
"Like home. Like his house" Mike says walking back and forth in front of us.
"Or maybe like Hawkins" I say softly.
"Upside down"
"What'd she say" Lucas asks and he looks at all of us.
"Upside down" Mike says walking over to the little table in the centre of the room.
"What?" Lucas asks as we all surround the table.
"Upside down. When El showed us where Will was, she flipped the board over, remember?" He flips the board over to demonstrate "Upside down. Dark. Empty" He says looking at all of us.
"Do you understand what he's talking about?" Lucas asks Dustin and I.
"Nope" Dustin says looking back at Mike.
"Guys, come on, think about it. When El took us to find Will, she took us to his house, right?"
"Yeah, and he wasn't there"
"But what if he was there? What if we just couldn't see him? What if he was on the other side?" We all still look at him confused "What if this is Hawkins" He flips the board of to the colourful side, then flips it back to the black side "And this is where Will is? The Upside Down"
"Like the Vale of Shadows" Dustin's face lights up. We all share looks around the table.

"The Vale of Shadows is a dimension that is a dark reflection or echo of our world. It is a place of decay and death. A plane out of phase. A place of monsters. It is right next to you, and you don't even see it" Dustin looks up at all of us.
"An alternate dimension" Mike says.
"But how do we get there?" I ask.
"You cast Shadow Walk" Dustin tells me.
"In real life dummy" Lucas says to him.
"We can't shadow walk, but maybe she can" We all look to the petite, pale girl lying on the couch.
"Do you know how we get there? To the Upside Down?" Mike asks her. She slightly shakes her head.
"Oh, my God!"
