Chapter Nine

"I've said this almost five times now, but I never want to act as if I've got it all together." River said as he prayed to God. "Because I don't. At all." He said after an unintentional dramatic pause.

Claudia was a topic that he had no clue how to deal with on his own.

Even with the Bible, which he checked for scriptures he might have missed about how to do relationships the right way.

This was something he had to pray to God for.

He needed wisdom. Patience. Self-control.

Self-control, again.

This would be the first time he ever had to use self-control in a relationship.

Nothing had happened to insinuate that Claudia wanted to be in a relationship with him, but he knew she somewhat liked him.

He hoped.

Or, she was just really nice.

Whatever it was, it wouldn't be impossible, only something he needed God's extra help with.

"Could You just convict me when I start thinking or doing something wrong?"

He wished that God would say, 'No. No. I'll just erase the past and give you a new thought process.'

But, it didn't work that way.

At least, it didn't work that way for his situation.

River understood that every single thing he did in the past had been washed away, forgotten, and atoned by Christ.

He loved that.

However, he still had to deal with the residue.

And in the department of women and sexuality, he had a mile-high wall of residue.

But he could do it.

He could do all things.

"Paul could go through imprisonment, persecution, and more, I can get through this." River hoped.

He wasn't solid on the fact. He was only solid on the truth that would stand always.

Through and through.

God was always going to be there for him. He would never change.

River was going to rely on Him for the remainder of his life.

He needed all the help he could get.

"What do I do? She doesn't speak, so I can't tell her how beautiful her voice is. She's got stunning eyes, but what does that have to do with painting?" He was hopeless, on his own.

He looked up and waited expectantly for an answer.

'She blew me a kiss,'

A smile grew on his face at the memory.

"No." He grumbled. "I can't be distracted,"

He had to do something while waiting for the answer from God.

And what better to do while waiting than reading the Bible?

He had some studying to do for Wednesday.

"God, the Holy Spirit," He murmured and opened his Bible.

That would be the next topic for the Call.

'Who is the Holy Spirit?'

Before he got into questioning it, a tug came at his heart.

River felt it was the right time to reach out to Claudia.
