Outside there were two cars ready for us. My grandma came up to me and led me to a car. When I got in I saw that aunt Aurora was driving and Aunt Sofia was in the passenger seat. That meant that aunt Angela was with Amara, Vittoria, and Angelica in the other car.

After a couple of minutes of driving I decided to ask them where we were going.

"So, where are we going exactly?"

"You will know when we get there. Instead, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you like Italy so far?" My aunt Sofia answered.

"Okay, well let's see, I like to draw and I would say I'm pretty good at it. I'm also really good in school. I guess I would have to thank my photographic memory for that. I enjoy listening to music, especially the playlist that I made with my mom. Oh and I really like to read, it helps me forget about things but reading just helps me destress like when I draw. Also as far as how Italy has been. I would say it's pretty good so far. It's really pretty here. I'm just going to have to get used to a lot of different things here." I answered.

"Really, well when we take you back home I would love to see some of your art work if you don't mind. Also we have reading in common, I really like to read as well." Aunt Sofia said. "I remember when I was a kid I forced my dad, your grandfather, to build me a library in the family home and as I grew up I filled it with more books that I liked."

"It's true she would whine and whine if she didn't have a book that she wanted. But the truth was she didn't have to whine that long because her dad and brothers spoiled her so much they would get her anything she wanted without hesitating, no matter how unbelievable it was." My grandma added on.

We talked about a lot more things and time went by in a flash. We didn't stop talking until the car stopped . When we got off I realized we were at the Canal Grande. I've always wanted to visit this place.

"Wow. It's beautiful." I said while getting out of the car.

"I know. Come on, let's get on the boat while the others come." My grandma said, leading me to the boat.

When I got on the boat I couldn't stop looking around me and admiring the view of Venice. It truly was a beautiful city.

My grandma started talking to me as we were waiting for them to all get on the boat. She sat on my right while aunt Sofia was on my left.

"I know that this whole thing is difficult on you but just know we are so happy you are finally home." She said with a warm and gentle look that made me believe that I could trust her with every little secret.

"Hey, we're ready to go." Vittoria said. When I looked at them I saw that they were all sitting and ready for the boat to start moving.

BACK AT THE MORETTI HOUSEHOLD

Alfonso's POV

"Vuoi spiegare qualcosa, figliolo?" Papa said eerily calm. Everybody was waiting for me to say something. The only people that knew about Val's past were me, Luciano, and Vincenzo.

(Would you like to explain something, son?)

"There is nothing to explain papa. Leave it be." I said, trying to brush it off and getting ready to leave so maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't have to explain.

"Sit back down and explain." He said and I should've known that I wasn't getting out of this.

"Papa, it's not my story to tell. She trusted me enough to tell me mostly everything, I'm not going to break that trust and tell you guys. She'll tell you when she's ready and trusts you. Also stop bringing up her mother. There is no need for you guys to voice your opinions about Isabella, she knows that you guys hate her. Don't give her a reason to push you away."

"So what you're telling me is that she trusts you?" He questioned me.

"We've been getting closer. I would take walks with her in the garden and we would just talk about things. She would tell me about her life in America and I would tell her about her childhood when she was here."

"When she comes back I want to have a talk with you and her only."

"Okay. Also Leo, don't you ever pull that stunt again." I said as I turned to face Leonardo. He nodded when I faced him.

Val's POV

Currently we were eating lunch on the boat, can I even call it a boat seeing as how it was more of a mini yacht. I've gotten a bit closer to everyone, even Amara. She's actually pretty nice.

Also my grandma told me to call her nonna. I figured I should also call my grandfather nonno and my aunts and uncles zia and zio.

After we finished eating the girls dragged me to the front of the boat leaving our zia's and nonna behind but I don't think they minded. We all sat down behind the railing that was there for safety and admired the view while enjoying the light wind.

"I'm sorry for what I said about your mom. I let my hatred get in the way and even though I don't like your mother it was wrong." Amara said, looking out into the view. I was shocked for a second. I didn't actually expect her to apologize.

"Thank you. I hope you guys can remember that my mom was my only family before all of this and now I have 20+ new family members. It's all a bit much and I'm doing my best to cope with it. You guys telling how much you hate my mom in every conversation is just making things harder."

"You're right, you're our sister and we should stick together."

The rest of the boat ride went smoothly. After the boat ride we went to a restaurant and ate dinner before making our way home. We made our way inside when Julia came up to us and informed us that they were all outside in the backyard.

When we got out there we saw that all the younger boys were playing football (soccer). The older ones were all sitting by the uncles and nonno. We made our way to them to sit with them. I sat beside my dad with Luciano on my other side.

"Hey how was it? Did you have fun?" Luciano asked me when I sat down.

"Yeah I had fun. They took me to the Canal Grande. It was beautiful." I answered him with a small but content smile and to my surprise he smiled back looking happy that I had fun.

"That's good. Also when did you start calling dad 'dad'?" He questioned.

"I got closer to him when we would walk in the garden and talk and it felt right to call him dad." Our conversation was cut short when I heard my name being called by my nonno.

"Valentina?"

"Yes?"

"Can I talk with you for a second?" He said and when I nodded he got up and gestured back to the house. I got up to follow and so did my dad.

We made our way inside and my dad led the way to his office. When we got in we settled on the couches with my dad next to me and nonno in front of me.

"So what's this about?" I questioned when we got settled.

Hey everybody sorry for the late update. I've got so much on my plate right now and I couldn't find the time to update it. I'm gonna try to get into a basis of updating every Monday. Thank you for understanding :) Love you guys <3
