"I've been waiting for an hour now, but he still hasn't come home yet." Serena said. She was talking to Emily on the phone, having came home a bit early today. Ash would've been at home already, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Shortly after she hung up the phone, she sighed and layed her head down on the coffee table, tilting her head to look out of a window next to the living room.

"Oh, Ash. I hope you're alright." She thought.

She shook her head and tried brushing off any bad images that came into her mind. "Calm down, Serena...he's a vampire, remember? Maybe he had to switch worlds for something important. But...he would at least tell me before leaving, right?"

"No, it must be an emergency!" Serena thought, as her face began to brighten up. "That's right. He's gone because of an emergency and he'll be back sometime soon. There's nothing to worry about. Besides, Ash is a vampire; he couldn't possibly be hurt by anyone!"

Serena paused and slammed her head back down on the table in frustration. "Then again, Ash has mentioned that there's vampires more ruthless than he is...so what if he actually got attacked?"

Serena's mind played hot and cold for a while. The front of her brain told her that Ash was going to be okay and there was nothing to worry about. The back of her brain told her the complete opposite.

"Maybe I'm just deranged because of work and he'll be next to me when I wake up tomorrow morning." Serena thought, finally coming to a conclusion.

She shut the apartment down for the night and went to bed, but couldn't help that her thoughts were keeping her awake.

Ever since they'd been together, Ash and Serena's personalities started to switch. While he became more calm and comforting, she became more mischievous and vigilant. Serena would watch Ash very often. The way he spoke, the way he acted, and even his body language. She'd began to act like him as a result. She started growing that "third eye" that Ash always had naturally.

He hadn't even bit her yet, and she was already adapting to the cold and unusual personalities that would belong to a vampire.

Serena was lucky enough that the next morning was the start of her Saturday. She immediately woke up expecting Ash to be by her side, cradling her in his arms like he usually does.

But Ash wasn't there. Serena was still alone.

It made her feel uncomfortable. She thought the "lonely" phase of her life was over. When Ash wasn't around, she couldn't help but think she was back to when Ash had never met her.

She decided to check anywhere she could think of. The bathroom, the kitchen, his job, her own job, maybe at Julius' house, at the mall they went to; and yet, Ash was still nowhere to be found.
