Chapter 31 | England

L couldn't help but giggle as he listened to your conversation with your dad on the phone. Standing outside the airport, waiting for the car that had been organised you were both wrapped up on long coats as the weather in England right now was rather chilly.

"Yes dad I'm fine! I've been all over the world for cases, England won't be any different" you said.

There was a pause as you listened to your dad respond, L could gather the general conversation just from your responses alone.

"I mean yeah it's cold as fuck but I'm more likely to die of a car accident on the way to where we're staying rather then getting frostbite. It's not even snowing!" You replied.

L snickered at your words, able to tell your dad was fussing over you being safe in another country.

"Look I gotta go, we have places to be. I'll call you tomorrow when I've got some free time ok? Love you, bye!"

You hung up and sighed with a smile. Every time you went somewhere for a case it was the same worried call from your dad. He was such a worry wart, until father who was rather chill.

"Parental worry?" L asked.

"Every time..." you snickered.

"Can't blame them when you two are getting g yourselves into dangerous cases all the time" Watari added.

"Well, that's fair"

You still didn't really know much about what was going on here, but you trusted L so you knew it'd go fine. He'd explained he would have someone 'from back home' pick you all up and you'd stay with them as you worked on the case. And if you had to go to the next city over to be closer to the suspect you'd get a hotel nearby. Your questions however, would soon be answered when you were approached by a car and the other two waved it over.

The car parked, and out stepped an older man. Clearly he and Watari were old friends or something, because he was the first person to be greeted.

"About time, remember this is YOUR company I'm helping you run here" he said.

"Yeah, yeah I know. But hey I still do all the legal work, I just have to babysit sometimes" Watari replied.

"Sometimes? More like all the time. And you L! Still dragging your dad around the world with you!"

L accepted the playful poke in the chest and just gave him a guilty look.

"Although I must say, I never thought I'd see the day you bring someone else home..." he said, turning to you.

"Neither did I but it looks like he's finally growing up" Watari teased.

L gently whacked him, telling him off for teasing. You always found their banter so funny.

"(Y/n), Roger. Roger, (y/n). He's and old friend of mine who runs things while I'm away. And (y/n) here is a hand picked private investigator L found trustworthy enough to let in. Also, the person who managed to make him a blushing mess" Watari explained.

Again, L whacked him. This time telling him off for exposing him. You couldn't help but snicker.

"Well it's nice to meet you, I must say I am kind of curious to see all this secret L business I've been unaware of" you said.

"He never has been one for letting secrets slip, you're lucky (y/n). He must be down pretty bad if he's letting you in" Roger replied.

This time it was Rogers turn to get whacked by L for teasing him. It was fun to tease him you'd admit, and it was all in good fun so he knew it wasn't too serious.
