After explaining his findings to you, you figured maybe you were just a bit paranoid and had nothing to worry about. But as L had already thought of, you figured checking out that address would be a good idea just in case. It was in a public area, so you couldn't easily pass by and look like a regular passerby to not arise suspicions if it was a sketchy place.
The potential drop off point was a closed down pizza place in between a hairdresser and boutique, on a shopping strip that was somewhat busy. So it's not like it was a dangerous area, hundreds of people passed by it every day just running their usual errands.
"I'll drive, since you can't" you teased.
"Shush you, I can pilot a helicopter that's better than driving a car" L replied.
"You- you can pilot a helicopter?"
"It's not that hard"
You gave him a squint, stuffing your feet into your shoes getting ready to go.
"And driving a car is hard?" You teased.
"...shut up"
How can this man... pilot a helicopter but not drive a car? You were always being surprised by him.
"Right, whatever you say oh so great detective. Let's go" you snickered.
Heading down the halls of the orphanage, you stuck your head into Wataris office to tell him you'd be back soon, and did the same for each of the boys so they knew where you were. And eventually you found Rosie digging through the toy box in one of the playrooms.
"Ro-ro" you began.
She looked up, hands still buried in the toy box.
"We're going out for an hour or so ok? We'll be back soon"
Immediately she frowned, and shook her head. She didn't want you to leave her alone, even if she knew the orphanage was safe and she had friends here, she still didn't like being without the adults she viewed as protectors.
"It'll only be an hour, we'll be back before you know it" you said.
She got up, and ran over to you wrapping her arms around L's legs in hopes she'd convince you both to stay. It was clear she wasn't quite ready to be alone yet. You turned to L, and you both pondered on what to do for a moment.
"Well... it's not like it's a dangerous area or anything. Plus she has both of us, if she's not ready to be left alone we probably shouldn't push her" you said.
L looked down at Rosie, who gave him puppy dog eyes in hopes he'd stay with her. He sighed, picking her up and deciding she could come for a car ride with you. It's not like you were doing anything dangerous, just passing by the place.
"Come on, we can all take a little drive then" you said.
She smiled, kicking her legs happily to be coming with you. Making a detour to the storage closet to get a kids car seat, since she was still too small for a regular car seat, you buckled her in the back seat and it was off you went to pass by this place.
She hadn't been on a car ride since you rescued her, so she was kind of exited to be going somewhere. And this time she knew it wasn't anywhere scary, it was with you and L and not to a creepy place she didn't know with strangers.
"Ok... L get the map book for me real quick" you said, stopped at a red light.
L pulled the book from the centre console and pulled up the map of the streets you'd be needing to follow to get there, angling to you to see. You scanned it over, looking for the quickest route.
