The Void Protector

Chapter 1: Prolog: 3 Minutes

~~Stiles~~

After mom died, I took it really hard and so did my dad. He took it the hardest and to help numb the pain he'd drink till he could barely stand. 

I was 6 years old when my mom died and if I'm going to be honest, I never thought that I actually lost both parents that day, I even lost myself too. But I'm getting ahead of myself I'll start at the beginning. . . The very beginning. . . . . .

~~13 years ago~~

~~Stiles~~

I laugh as I splash water on mom, and I laugh harder as she laughs too. Suddenly she stops laughing and stares at me. I stop laughing to look at her, I ask "Mommy? Are you okay?" 

She screams and comes at me. I try to run but it's too slippery and she grabs me putting me under the water. 

I try to reach up to free myself, but she holds me down and I see her angry face saying something. It gets harder to hold my breath and I gasp in water making me cough. 

Which in turn makes me swallow in more water and I start to see spots then complete darkness. I feel light and I feel myself flying. 

I don't know how long it's been before I see a bright light and I start coughing again as my eyes see my dad. I open my arms yelling "Dad!!!" 

He comes over hugging me and I ask, "Where's Mommy?" He bends down a little before smiling at me to tell me "She's just in another room, she'll have to stay at the hospital for a bit, but you and I will go home then tomorrow after school we can come check on Mommy okay." 

I smile and say "Okay, but can we see her now?" He frowns and says, "She needs her rest too, so we'll come tomorrow, alright." 

I frown and nod as he comes up to lift me off the bed. He puts me on the ground, but I ask shyly "Can you carry me?" 

He looks at me and smiles as he bends down picking me up again. I smile as I put my head down feeling tired as he walks us to go home.

~~13 years ago~~

~~Sheriff~~

I just get home and I hear "YOU GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM, YOU MURDERING MONSTER!!!!" I drop my keys running to see who Claudia's yelling at and my stomach drops at the sight of Stiles in the tub not moving with Claudia standing up. 

I run over to Stiles, and I pull him out. I check his pulse not feeling one and immediately start CPR. 

Still wearing my gear, I call for an ambulance and they arrive in 3 minutes. They come in and take over putting Stiles on the gurney I grab Claudia gently by the arm to take her to the hospital and to follow the ambulance that has Stiles with them. 

We follow them as far as they'll let us, and I find Melissa asking her to take Claudia to a room while I go wait for them to come out with news on Stiles. She agrees and takes Claudia while I wait right outside. 

Not long does Dr. Gardner come up to me and says "Hello Stilinski, I have to warn you that Stiles wouldn't come back for almost 3 minutes of getting CPR and we normally try not to involve the AED or automated external defibrillator on a child but with the circumstances I made a call. He's okay now and he just woke up so please follow me." 

I follow close as my mind think about what he just said and wonder what that could mean. I walk in and Stiles coughs sitting up. He over to me opening his arms and yells "Dad!!" 

I go over and hug him as he wraps his small arms around as best, he can. After I look at him and he asks, "Where's Mommy?" 

I bend down more to be eye level with him as I explain "She's just in another room, she'll have to stay at the hospital for a bit, but you and I will go home then tomorrow after school we can come check on Mommy okay." 

He smiles at me and answers "Okay, but can we see her now?" I frown not knowing if Claudia is in the best head space, so I tell him "She needs her rest too, so we'll come tomorrow, alright." 

He frowns breaking my heart and responds with a nod. I step forward lift Stiles up and off the bed putting him back on the ground. 

Just as I was about to put my hand out, he asks with a small shy voice "Can you carry me?" I look down smiling and bend down to pick him up. He smiles and lays his hand on my shoulder as I walk to the car to drive us home.
