august 21.

what is august 21?

lorelais birthday.

guess how old she's turning?

18.

why is that bad?

because her step father has been adamant on kicking her out once she turns 18.

lorelai thought he was joking as a child, especially since as she got older he stopped talking to her about it. he stopped talking to her period.

so; lia thought she was in the clear because he hadn't mentioned it for months. so, she had no plan.

the only plan she really had was a little bit in savings. not enough to cover all of the necessary costs for moving.

oh and of course, she hadn't talked to anyone about her situation because she would never. when has lorelai ever asked anyone for help?

but, this morning, lorelai was awoken by her step father throwing a few boxes in her room and yelling at her.

"HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE!!" he yelled basically right in her ear before leaving.

lia sat up very confused, thinking it was a joke. that maybe he had been pretending to hate her for 4 years and some change just so he could prank her. that at any second he'd come back in with a big smile telling her it was a joke.

she sat there for a while, after maybe 15 minutes she realized it was real.

right away, she started to freak out. she had no plan whatsoever and she could tell he was serious.

after freaking out for a few minutes, she started packing. fast.

did she plan on telling anyone? nope.

she didn't really have a plan, in fact she was basically making it up in her head as she packed.

what she had come up with is: pack everything up and put it into her jeep, sell all her expensive shit she doesn't want and/or need, stay at a hotel while she finds a place. not great, but it was the best.

lorelai prayed that jacob wasn't home or he was asleep while she treaded upstairs to put some things into her jeep. unfortunately, her prayers didn't really work. he was home, and heard and saw everything. but, he pretended not to be there.

after a straight 6 hours of packing, lorelai finally had the chance to sit down and check her phone.

did you think she was actually going to tell her boyfriend? damn your wrong.

it was 3, so she had 3 hours to get her shit together before going to her boyfriends house.

all she wanted to do was pretend like what was happening wasn't happening, so yeah. she wasn't gonna say a peep. to anyone. even if it meant her not having to sell things that can't fit in her jeep like her bed and vanity.

lorelai cried while putting the last box of shoes into her jeep, realizing that this was the last time she was ever going to live with her brother.

"fuck you, john." lorelai sobbed while throwing her key at the house. unexpectedly, the key went straight for the window and shattered it.

i thought he bought bulletproof glass?

she ignored it and drove to the nearest motel.

in the motel, she didn't bother to unpack since she was going to have to do it all later anyways. she only had a little bit of time left to get ready.

i'm classic motel fashion, the shower water had barely any pressure and the water only got to less than lukewarm temperature. but, she persevered. she just kept promising herself that it would all be over soon and she would be able to move into a new house soon.

after she got ready, lorelai sat on her 'new' bed while sobbing, realizing this is what her life had come too.

it was now 6, and lorelai just walked into the sturniolo house. matt walked her into the dark kitchen, saying he was gonna make her birthday food.

lia smiled and laughed, pretending she didn't just get kicked out for simply living.

except when she walked into the kitchen, the lights turned on and everybody she new screamed out some variation of 'happy birthday'.

lorelai was actually happy this time, she may have just lost everything but at least she had her family.

when i say everyone, i mean everyone. nick, chris, alahna, isaiah, marylou, jimmy, scarlet, scarlets husband, justin, jacob, everyone.

after she had said her hellos and made her peace, jacob demanded her to open presents. she wasn't really into the idea, because she didn't want to get handed new things like she still had a place to put them.

jacob being jacob, demanded his gift be first.

jake handed his sister a small black box. lorelai figured it would be a bracelet of some kind, maybe something to match the heart necklace her mother gave her last christmas, some type of jewlery.

instead, a small silver key laid in the box.

lia was completely shocked, she couldn't figure out if he was asking her to move in with him or if it was some joke.

her hands shook at the possibility of him asking her what she thought he was asking.

maybe it isn't all gone to shit?

"i know john kicked you out, i've been working on it for a while, it's already mine, we can go there tonight." jacob said while everyone stayed silent. im guessing no one knew he had kicked his own stepdaughter out.

"are you asking me what i think you're asking me?" she trembled while looking up at her brother.

"move in with me?" he asked before lia happily screamed yes while hugging him. "i already put your vanity and bed and shit in there," he whispered while they hugged.

a bit later, lia had gotten to every present but one last one. matt's.

he handed her a small box, a bright smile on his face.

for his birthday she had gotten him some very expensive shoes he'd been dying over for some time, so matt wanted to get her something special.

inside the box laid a small diamond necklace. the necklace was one of those cool layered ones, with the top chain being a simple thin chain with tiny diamonds dispersed evenly. the bottom chain, was another thin chain this time with a heart locket encrusted with more diamonds. inside the locket was the picture some fan took of them on the beach together the night of scarlets wedding.

unboxing the necklace made her cry.

she had only been with the boy for 2 months but he already felt like they'd been married for years. and he welcomed the feeling.

oh btw if i ever make a spelling mistake or i mess up a characters name, pls feel free to correct me! i don't always proofread so it's very common for me to make countless mistakes. plus i'd rather catch them as early as possible.
