Chapter 8

(Max POV)

    "The Tigers have done it! First time in twenty five years your very own Hawkins tigers have won the championship game. And not to mention the game winning shot was made by seasons bench warmer Lucas Sinclair"
"Well I'll tell you this Phil this boy must be feeling like he's on top of the world right now-"

    Yeah. He must be feeling like he's on top of the world. After tonight he will be officially included in the popular crowd and forget all about his friends who he's known since he was in elementary school. Oh well. It's not my problem any more.
    After turning off the radio I sat there for a minute in silence. I feel bad in a way for not coming to his game, but he is better off without me being a distraction to him. I am proud of him though.

    I continued to sit on my bed when the neighborhood dog continued to bark from outside.
    "All right all right. I'm coming" I sighed sitting up from my bed and making my way to the kitchen. I opened our fridge grabbing some of our left over chicken and started my way to outside. While walking my eyes gazed to our couch seeing a figure slumped over on it.
    This was a common thing to walk out on with my mom. After work she would usually grab a few bottles from the fridge, turn on the TV finish her beers and pass out. Grabbing the blanket off the ground I dropped it over her back and resumed my way to the door.

    "Here you go boy" I said to the trailer park dog handing him a piece of the meat in my hand. A loud screeching noise from behind me followed by doors slamming. Already knowing who it was I looked over at Eddie in surprise to see he was with Chrissy Cunningham.
After about ten minutes of feeding the dog and petting him, Eddie came running out with a face of...terror? The weird thing was though. Chrissy was no where in sight.

That next morning I woke up to one of my excruciating headaches. Groaning in pain I hauled my body out of bed and to the kitchen sink taking another Advil pill hoping it would relieve the pain.
   As I was about to head back into my room I heard chaotic noises emitting from outside. What started as constant dog barking turned into police sirens getting louder by the second. I rushed outside to see what was going on to discover the cars screeching to a halt outside of Eddie Munsons trailer.

    "Looks like that Munson boys up to no good again" my mind said walking to my side examining the scene taking place in front of us. As the police started getting out of their cars I decided to take a closer look to what was going on. Walking down my steps I slowly approached the Munsons house and looked inside to open door.
     Looking through the small opening of the Munsons door I noticed a figure lying on the ground. As I stated further at the figure on the ground I realized that it was Chrissy. My eyes widened and I began to walk closer when I was stopped suddenly

    "Hey! You can't be out here. Get back inside!" The officer said slightly shoving me back in the direction of my house. Walking in I heading straight in the direction of my room and slamming to door behind me.
    After contemplating what I should do. I quickly threw on what ever outfit I had lying on my floor and quickly biked to the Central Hawkins neighborhood.

    Once I arrived I made my way up the driveway to the front door and started pounding on the door in hopes someone was home.
    "Come on Dustin" I muttered under my breath as I resorted to ringing the door bell. Right as I was about to bang in the door again it opened up revealing the person who I knew would help explain what I just saw. And that was Dustin Henderson

    "Ok and You're sure it was Chrissy?" Dustin asked as he paced around the room trying to process the information I just told him
    "Yes, in her cheerleader outfit. Same thing she was in when I saw her with Eddie" I said to him standing up off his bed
    "Did you tell this to the cops?"
    "No. No, but I...I can't be the only one who saw them together. I mean. They stood out"
    "Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?" Dustin said once again confirming my previous statement

    "Exactly. You know, his name is not in the news yet or anything, I can guarantee you Eddie is suspect number one now"
    "That's crazy. Eddie didn't do this. No way" Dustin said . "No way" he restated in a sterner tone as I gave in a questioning look
    "We can't rule it out" I exclaimed
    "Yes we can!"
     "Dustin"
     "You don't know him like I do Max, okay? Where we got to high school, Lucas made all his sports friends. Mike and me? I mean, no one was nice to us. No one except Eddie" Dustin said
    "Ok well they said the same shit about Ted Bundy. Yeah he's a super nice person, but then he's murdering women on the weekend"
   
    "So your saying  Eddie is like Ted Bundy?"
    "No, Im not saying- I'm saying that we can't presume anything, okay?" I said as Dustin huffed away to his bed. "But it doesn't look good for Eddie" I concluded resulting in silence to fall over us
    "Why haven't you told the cops this?" Dustin said breaking the silence we were sitting in
    "I-I don't know"
    "You don't know?" He exclaimed. Talking a deep breath I walked over to his side and sat next to him beginning to fidget with my hands

    "After I saw Eddie and Chrissy go into the trailer...something else happened. Nothing that weird or anything I mean... Eddie always drives like a maniac. And the power goes off in my place all the time. It's a price of shit. But. This morning, I started to think back and,I don't know. The look on his face. He was scared Dustin.  Really scared. Maybe he was scared because you know, he- he just killed someone or maybe, maybe because. I don't, I don't know...maybe" I trailed off not wanting to think of what could possibly be coming back to Hawkins
    "Maybe something else killed her?" Dustin said thinking the exact same thing I was
    "But. That's impossible right?"
    "I dont know. It should be. Only one person knows what actually happened" Dustin said looking up at me
     "Eddie"
