SUMMARY
Maisie first met Aaron when they were 7. They had been seated together in class, and since their parents knew each other, they decided to get become familiar with one another. What was simply an acquaintance-type relationship, soon blossomed into a beautiful friendship. To everyone's surprise, Maisie, who had no other friends beside her brothers, and Aaron, who was well liked in their school, became best friends in no time. They had sleepovers almost every weekend, they snuck out to meet each other, and more often than not, when something went wrong, they only wanted to talk to each other. They were each other's safe havens. Their anchors.
But then their friendship started to fade. High school started and Aaron started to get more popular, while Maisie stayed alone. He started to blow her off to hang out with his new friend, Steve, or he'd ask her to join him and his friends doing something incredibly stupid. She never joined. The first year of high school hadn't even ended when the two no longer spoke to each other.
