The sound of the night critters that reside outside the cave had echoed through the entrance as the blue cub slept soundly in the Six-eared-Macaque's arms, He gazed at the resting infant as he had thoughts running through his head

Deep thoughts... Haunting thoughts...
The bags under his tired and stern eyes showed that he held hints of nervousness within
Was... Wukong the best simian to raise a cub that still had it's innocence..?

Not that the warrior thought he was much better, His issues would definitely taint the radiating optimism that the cub held
He wouldn't even be able to raise it due to his... contract...
How did something that suddenly sprung into life made him think like this?

He was supposed to be the bad guy...he is the bad guy...
So then why was he at war with himself..?
He glanced over at the little flame that burned on the wick of the candle, He couldn't make up his mind as the end of his tail flicks a bit

His cart of thoughts crashed and burned as his ears perked up to foot steps approaching, He quickly went back to using glamor that hid his 4 other ears, His snow white fur and the scar across the right side of his face

As he stood up, he flinched as the entrance of the cave was suddenly busted through with the chunks of rocks are sent flying from the impact, Macaque quickly turned and shielded the baby away from the flying rocks that hit his back

He grunted a bit from the bits of pain along his back before the cub was awoken with fear and started crying
Macaque glanced at the wailing infant before looking over his shoulder to see the group of pilgrims that stood behind a pissed off Monkey king

Macaque smiled through his nervousness as he turned to face the great sage
"Monkey king!~"
He called with a smile before it dropped to a serious gaze
"Now look what you did, That a way to treat a kid?"
He asked as he craddled the cub in his arms, Wukong narrowing his eyes

"That's hilarious coming from someone like you, Now hand over the cub!"
Wukong demanded as his eyes narrowed at Macaque, He who laughed at a discovery
"You didn't think of a name yet?!"
Wukong was caught off guard a bit but regained his serious stance

"W-well I'm working on it!
You don't know the half of it of being a parent!"
He fired back before rushing at Macaque, Macaque ducked to the right as a shadow clone rose from the ground and uppercutted Wukong through the ceiling of the cave
Causing the cave to start collapsing and the pilgrims running from the impact, Macaque who appeared out of a shadow portal he made in time and set his feet onto the grass patch

Being met with an incoming tackle from Wukong that sent them into a vertical roll, Macaque kicking him off as he jumped and floats in the air
"Where's the cub?!"
Wukong exclaimed in question and worry as Macaque simply chuckled
"The cub's fine... For now."

This earned the dark furred simian a grumble of frustration from the king, The two then rushed at each other and exchanged heavy impacts that sparked gold and purple lights that broke through the clouds of the night sky
The pilgrims couldn't do much but watch as the two monkeys fought

"The cub could be who knows where by now!"
Zhu Bajie exclaimed in defeat and felt a hand on his back, Looking over to his master
"Worry not, My friend.
We'll find it-"

They all heard a nearby cry of an infant as the bushes rustled, Rushing over and parting the leaves to find the cub squirming on the ground, Unharmed but upset
The monk picks up the crying cub and attempts to comfort it, the cry of the cub distracting Wukong as he was hammer punched into the ground below

The moment he collected himself and stood back up, He saw that Macaque was gone and that it would be a waste to try to find him
The king patted down his clothes quickly as he ran over to the group, Seeing the cub cry and cry as he let out a breath of relief
Even still... He couldn't help but feel that something was off... Macaque didn't seem to try anything with the cub, Not even keep it in his arms as he fought
Not as a shield, Nothing...
What happened in the time he had with the cub..?

"Wukong."
The monk's voice broke through his racing thoughts and he looked over at him quickly
"Yes, master?"
He replied and wondered what his master needed, Instead of receiving a request from his master right away
He was simply handed the cub after it attempted to stay clung to the monk's clothes, The king gazed down at the crying infant and began to make funny faces with some weird noises

The voice of the great sage catching it's attention and seeing the funny faces being made, It's sob eased to a sniffle before it began to giggle
It's little tail wagging around before Wukong used his free paw to wipe it's tears away, Being mindful of his sharp nails of course
The cub was quick to grab his paw that had a bit of dirt on it, Attempting to gnaw at it but was given back to the monk quickly
"As much as I wouldn't mind ya biting me, I don't want ya having pebbles in your tummy."

Wukong told truthfully with a laugh that caused the rest of the group to giggle, It was a moment of piece before the group glared at Zhu Bajie and the great sage chasing after him
"I THOUGHT YOU WERE PAST BEING SUCH A LAZY BUM!
GET BACK HERE, I'M SCOLDING YOU!!"
The king demanded as Zhu Bajie feared for his life
"YOU'RE GONNA MURDER ME!!
AND DO YOU EXPECT ME NOT TO GET AN OUNCE OF SLEEP?!"
He shouted back as the rest of the group simply watched, The cub's ears twitch and it looks over to a cliff high above

A silhouette with purple eyes gazed back as the moon was perfectly positioned behind it, A second later... it disappeared
The cub kept staring despite the figure being gone, It's ears wiggle as if it's listening to something... or someone
"My, You like looking at the moon, Don't you?"
The monk asked the cub with a smile, Knowing full well he's not getting a response... for now at least
