Mistakes were made

The bewilderment and shock that crept up on kito's face was immense as they couldn't believe what they were seeing, Why was...

"Kito?!"

Red son's voice snapped them out of their thoughts as they blinked their gold vision away, He had come up a bit behind them as he was nervous and confused

"What is it?"

Kito's eyes held contemplation before looking over at red son, eye brows furrowed with concern

"It's your father...He's-"

Kito moved their gaze to the ground, unsure to tell him or not as red son then moved closer to put his hand on their shoulder
Lowering himself a bit to be in their line of sight to catch kito's eye, they looked back over at him

"Something's up."

They put it simply, Red son understanding it might be hard to explain
If kito felt something was off, then it must be

"I'll go investigate."

Red proclaimed before he was about to walk off to grab a stick

"WAIT!"

his ears perked at the sudden desperation in kito's voice, feeling kito grab his hand gently to stop him from doing so
He looked back at kito in surprise

I'm coming with you."

"How?
This barrier your father put up was specifically meant to keep you in!
How are you meant to..?"

He questioned before kito thought it over, Their ears perking up suddenly before another rumble shook the earth
Their eyes widening in horror as their ears droop

"Uh oh-"

A large flurry of green, purple and gold errupted in the distance
The shockwave it produced made the incoming winds strong, the trees shifting and the monkeys holding on for dear life as they screeched in fear

"Fath--ER?!"

He exclaimed in surprise as the strong winds nearly blew him back, that was until kito held onto his hand and pulled him into them to protect him
The winds calming down and the monkeys peeking out from their respective places, Kito and Red son peeking back in the direction where the explosion came from

Kito seeing how terrified Red son looked for his father's wellbeing: They made a serious expression before letting go of red son, using their tail to push him back and away gently
As if telling him to stand back for what they were about to do

They took a deep breath, reeling their arm back as they balled up their paw into a fist
Taking a few steps backwards
Exhaling slowly, steam escaping from the gaps of their teeth as heat began emitting from their fist

Their fist engulfed in flames so bright that red son squinted his eyes a bit from it, sheilding his eyes with his arm and the monkeys realizing what the twilight cub was about to do
Rushing over to try and stop them, Yet only resulting in getting blown back when their fist made contact with the inside of the barrier

Sparks flying as it was a fight of force after force, kito gritting their teeth as they grunted heavily
Ears narrowed and brows furrowed, sweating forming and flying off from their skin
Hair flowing wildly from the wind pressure they were creating, the thought of wanting to help their best friend only fueled their will as they then let out war cry

The barrier cracking in large chunks within seconds, the fire from their fist shrinking into a small bright light that then exploded into a final bright flash
The barrier shattering under the force as kito stumbled back a bit, catching their breath as they were now free from their prison...
Yet...they felt a sharp pain coming their their fist that made them hiss quietly

Looking down at their paw and arm that were shaking as the cracks from before had began to glow through their clothes and bleed, Their eyes widening a bit before gritting their teeth again to use their magic to forcefully cover up the damage done to themselves
As if nothing happened...

Red son looking up from the greatness that passed, Seeing the barrier was no more and smiling widely as he ran up to his best friend

"YOU DID IT!
You actually--!
...Kito?"

He noticed how they went quiet and the way they were standing, about to investigate before kito suddenly turned to look at him with a grin of pride, gesturing their head over to the forest and sky ahead

"Let's go get our dads."

Seeing his friend so confident and ready for anything filled him with reassurance, smiling and nodding
The two then slid down the side of the mountain before using their respective powers to travel across the land
Red's fire and kito's shadow weaving through the twists and turns of the greenery and hard rocks in their path

Not too far away though,
A figure was standing overhead as his cape blew in the wind and messy hair flowing along with it
Observing the events that took place as his purple eyes broke through the dark

His eyes directing towards the battle unfolding as he sensed danger was afoot, looking up towards the clouds that began to part and shed sunlight upon the mountain of monkeys
He sighed as he then stepped backwards towards the darkness, dissapearing from view

a distant general had his voice be heard across the mountain that rattled and create curiosity amongt the monkeys that lived there...

One word...

One simple action...

Caused a rain fall of destruction and cries that caught kito's ears, their eyes widening in horror as they then stopped in their tracks with a slide
Looking back towards the mountain that had dust and the scent of blood in the air that had kito's pupils shifting in place

Before long, a sudden gust of wind engulfed red son and took him high into the sky
Kito calling out his name and reaching out for him as red did the same, only to see he's fallen into the arms of his own mother who had a pained look on her face
She looked...angry

Looking down on kito as she then used her wind manipulation to vanish from sight, Kito pleading for her to wait
Calling out for her as the dust flew around them, using their gold vision to try and find her and their best friend

But the only thing their eyes laid upon was the glaring, gold daggers as their father stood tall on his magic cloud
The sillhoette of the king barely made out in the storm of dust as kito held their breath from anxiety, The other pilgrims coming into view as kito's ears drooped and folded back

"Father..?"

The monkey king did not respond as he simply kept looking down at them, his eyes still shining a bright gold as he then showed...
