Hyunjin was doing what he did best, giving his lovers a hard time. "Hyunjin sit down now!" Jeongin scolded cause Hyunjin to halt. He hated the tone jeongin was using and he knew it only led to punishment and he doesn't know if he can handle being in the kennel again.
They hated putting him there, it made them feel like they were taking away his right to be a human, he was more than just a house pet. "Down" jeongin pointed to the floor and hyunjin did as he was told. "Good boy" jeongin reached down to pet the fluffy brown and black turn hyunjin was sporting.
"He finally run out of energy?" Seungmin said.
"Nope, but you know how he gets when we don't falter and we lower our voices" jeongin said sighing, he really loved everything about hyunjin. He loved hyunjins human form the most, the way hyunjins hair fell just at his shoulders, his smile and his captivating eyes. He loved his dog form but his human form just brings him so much comfort.
But one thing they would never give up, was how hyunjin could tell when they were sad or upset. When they adopted hyunjin he was listed as a therapy animal, what the center he was in didn't know was that hyunjin was a hybrid. He could just feel it when they were sad.
Flashback
Seungmin shut the door quickly and breathes in deeply trying to calm his nerves. "It's okay seungmin, it was just a man" Seungmin tried to convince himself as he slipped down the door. He squeezed his eyes shut but slowly opened them when he felt fur brush against his cheek.
"Hi jinnie" he giggled as hyunjin licked his cheeks clear of any tears and wiggled his large for into his lap, yipping a bit. He nuzzled Seungmins hand, guiding it to his fur. "Aw" he cooed. Hyunjin stayed with seungmin till the raven deemed himself ready to stand once again and even then, hyunjin kept the sleeve of Seungmins coat in his mouth not planning to let go until told otherwise.
Flashback 2
Hyunjin had noticed how jeongin was off. "Innie seems sick minnie" Hyunjin said from the couch. Hyunjin had graduated already and seungmin did his schooling from home.
"I know, could you get your service vest, we are gonna send you to practice with him okay?" Jeongin was still in school, his last year, in fact he had the day off but as a basketball player, he needed to be there for his team.
"Okay, but I don't want anyone to touch me" Hyunjin voiced his concerns knowing how touchy high school kids could be especially with fluffy dogs like himself.
"They can't if you're wearing the vest, you would be on duty" Seungmin assured. Hyunjin nodded and went into their bedroom to grab the vest before shifting. "There you are jinnie, I thought you got stuck inside cause you closed the door again."
The pout was visible in hyunjins puppy eyes. 'It was one time!' He thought, but settled for barking to voice his mind. "Innie you'll be late darling! Hyunjins waiting for you!"
"He's coming? And he has the vest, I'll be fine I-" he was stopped by a low growl emitted from hyunjin, who stood dropping the vest at jeongins feet.
"He will go even if you tell him no, and you know that. He knows us better than the both of us know ourselves so trust his judgment please" Seungmin kneeled best to hyunjin putting on the vest before scratching behind his ears.
Jeongins was now on his way to his schools gym, upon entering he heard snickering from their team captain. "Another mutt? Really?" Hyunjin spotted Chan not too far away from beomgyu who was also on the team. Chan and minho have beomgyu under their care till he graduates.
"Fuck off soobin let's just get started" beomgyu said leaving chans side.
"Go on hyunjin, we'll be done soon" jeongin say hyunjin next to chan, both dogs keeping to themselves while they were on duty. Hyunjin noticed how jeongin struggles to breathe. Between soobin screaming at beomgyu and jeongins shallow breathes hyunjin nudged Chan and was ready to jump in and save his boy.
"H-hyunjin" jeongin called out before falling to his knees clutching his chest. Beomgyu watched his friend drop and his own breaths began to be stolen by the anxiety. Chan and hyunjin jumped into action, Chan keeping beomgyu conscious and focused on him and hyunjin rolling jeongins body into the recovery position before dragging the boys bag over to beomgyu and pawing at the side pocket.
"W-what do I do?" He asked hyunjin. Hyunjin pulled on a red key loop that was attached to jeongins phone before going back to jeongin and holding one of his paws on his chest. "O-okay" still running a hand through chans fur beomgyu opened jeongins phone and called the emergency contact.
"Hyunjin, stay put" he could hear seungmin over the phone. He didn't plan on leaving jeongins side. The basketball team watched in horror as the two boys and their dogs were escorted by paramedics and seungmin and minho.
"Good boys, the both of you I'm so proud" minho said scratching behind the ears of his husky. "Innie and beomgyu will be just fine" saying that to reassure himself and seungmin more than anything.
End of flashbacks
"Hyunjin we said slow down!" They had gotten back from hanging out with Chan and minho. "And hes listed as a service and therapy animal?"
"He's still a puppy innie, let him be a puppy"
