juliet had decided in the car on the way to the party that she was going to congratulate the couple and then get shit-faced drunk. going to events like these for her friends always brought out the worst in her. her jealousy of two people finding each other and falling in love had never been stronger. but she loved anthoine and julie.

pierre, charles, and juliet arrived at the restaurant and ran inside, getting word that the newly engaged couple was about to arrive. they got into their hiding spots and waited for the door to open, revealing anthoine and julie.

"félicitations!" the party shouted as they walked in. anthoine and julie beamed with pride and clung onto one another as they made their way through the restaurant to greet everyone.

juliet had already ordered her first drink and stood with charles and her brother when the couple approached them. "congrats, guys," pierre engulfed his friends into a hug, followed by charles with similar sentiments.

"let me see the ring!" juliet grabbed julie's hand and looked at it. it was absolutely stunning. she hugged both anthoine and julie and the trio was left alone again.

time flew by and juliet talked to a few people, but she was mostly drinking. she had finished conversing with everyone she needed to and sat down at the bar for a few minutes of peace.

she ordered another drink and looked around, spotting her brother talking to an old friend. the bartender placed the glass up on the counter in front of her and she stared at the TVs above her, watching the football on the screen.

"so, do you like paris or monaco?" she heard a familiar voice say from behind her as charles sat down on the stool to her right.

"i'm going to say paris...but just because i know you are a monaco fan," she slurred sarcastically and sipped her drink.

"wow," he dryly chuckled, "do you hate me or something?"

juliet finished her drink and slammed the empty glass on the table, startling the bartender. "quite the opposite, actually."

"how many drinks have you had?" he replied. she had finished that last one in thirty seconds flat, and there's no way that last thought was supposed to come out.

"i dunno...maybe five," she said and waved down the bartender who made her another one. "six now." she held up her filled glass in the air.

"why so much?"

"i drink a lot at things like this. it helps lower my...jealousy."

"why the jealousy? you're happy for them, no?" charles was confused.

"oui, of course, i just don't think i'll ever fall in love or get married so i tend to hate these types of things because it reminds me of that," juliet sighed and put her drink down. "you wouldn't understand...you probably already have the woman you'll do all this..." she pointed around at the party, "with."

"but what makes you think that? i think anyone would easily fall in love with you," charles said, keeping his eye contact with juliet. "just don't drink this stuff anymore...ce n'est pas bon."

juliet smiled at his statement and pushed her drink down away from her. she looked back up at the score of the game: paris was losing 4-0 to AS monaco. "maybe you'll have to teach me everything about monaco, they seem pretty good."

"sure," charles smiled straightly and looked up at the screen. he stood up from his stool and pushed it in. "and for the record, i don't have the woman i'm going to do all this with," he added and walked away.

he saw pierre approach him as he made his way towards the food table. "since when are you and my sister such good friends?" pierre abruptly asked and charles froze.

"uh, i dunno...she was alone at the counter and i thought she could use some company," charles answered simply and tried to walk away.

"daniel and i saw you dancing with her in austria, you looked like you were having fun..." pierre said to stop him in his tracks, "but don't have too much fun with her or i'll have to kill you." charles couldn't decipher his tone; it was both serious and sarcastic. he knew nothing was going on between them, but he couldn't help but feel scared from pierre's threat.

charles nodded and excused himself to go get some food. pierre spotted his sister and walked over to her. "drinking away your jealousy again?" he sat down in the same stool charles had and leaned forward on his elbows.

"you know me so well, pierre. but i think i'm done for today."

pierre and juliet sat in silence watching the soccer game for a few minutes before they heard a familiar voice approach them. "bonjour to my favourite siblings!" anthoine appeared beside pierre.

"hey 'thoine," juliet smiled at him. anthoine looked at pierre and nudged him. "can i ask you something?"

"sure," pierre nodded, "what's up?"

"first off, thank you both for coming today...you know how much i appreciate it," anthoine said, "i wanted to ask you if you'd be my best man."

juliet's smile grew wider and larger at the two boys. "of course," pierre grinned and hugged his best friend. "i'm gonna plan the best bachelor party!" he chuckled.

"glad i got that out of the way," anthoine laughed as he pulled out of the hug. "how's racing going? red bull, big man..."

juliet sat beside her brother and anthoine as they continued to catch up. she couldn't help but beam at everything they both said, so proud of the two boys and all that they'd become.
