22. The Clock

"This it?" Steve asked max as they pulled in across the street from mrs. Kelley's house

"Yup" max said getting out and walking over to the door. She rang the doorbell.

"Well thank god that's over" Dustin sighed

"Huh?" Sydney questioned

"That car ride was the most awkward thing yet"

"Oh wow very funny" Sydney slapped the boy's hat down covering his eyes.

"Hey!" Dustin fixed his hat.

Mrs Kelley opened the door and let max go inside.

"Okay. She's in." Steve said

"I'm missing collarbones not eyes" Dustin remarked which made Sydney laugh. "So, we gonna talk about it?"

"Huh? Sorry talk about what?" Steve asked.

"Your temporary insanity earlier today"

"Yeah you kinda threw yourself at Nancy" Sydney patted him on the shoulder

"Okay first of all that's not what happened." Steve defended himself

"Pretty sure that's what happened" Sydney and Dustin said in unison

"It was pretty public. There were a lot of witnesses." Dustin continued.

"Are you two implying I still have a thing for nance?"

"More stating" Sydney said

"And giving your steadfast refusal to date robin, it's pretty much the only logical explanation." Dustin said

"Well that's not the only one" Steve sighed as Sydney laughed. "And as for nance...I was just trying to protect a friend. A friend. Okay!" He yelled as he saw the smirks on the two teens faces. "I don't want to find her in the morning with her eyes sucked out of her skull by this Vecna creep."

"You're like bright red in the face right now." Dustin laughed

"I'm not. i don't want to talk about it. I'll punch you so hard in the face your teeth will fall back out."

"Wow. Too far." Dustin said with a straight face.

"Not cool. sorry" Steve apologizes

"It's okay" Dustin shrugged. they nodded at each other and fist bumped.

"Okay we need to help this one out back there" Steve said nodding his head to Syd.

"What! No, i don't need your help" Sydney crossed her arms.

"Yes you do." Steve and Dustin both said

"Ok then, what would you two have me do?"

"Apologize" Dustin pointed out.

"She has more to apologize for!" Syd yelled

"Maybe but you need to for her to. plus yous both are acting like spoilt four year old's"

"Hey steve, maybe a little back up here?"

"Well..." Steve shrugged his shoulder.

"Oh my god." Sydney threw her hands up.

"Listen, You still like her right?"

"Well... yeah" Sydney admitted.

"Ok so tell her."

"But what if it's too late. What if she moved on?"

"Hey Hey Hey" Steve looked back at the girl seeing she was starting to get upset. "She definitely still likes you. I can see it in her eyes"
