The four kids were now sitting in the wheelers living room couch being questioned by the police. Mikes, Lucas's and dustins parents were there but max and syds nowhere to be seen.

"What exactly we're you all doing at the lake?" The sheriff asked them

They all looked at each other waiting for one of them to talk. "It's complicated" Dustin said

"We were...we were just going for a walk" max made up.

"A walk? At nine pm?" The other officer asked.

"To the lake" Dustin squeaked. "We were gonna...take a little swim. Little night swim" they all nodded

"Dusty" mrs. Henderson said. "Someone was just murdered there."

"Yeah we didn't realise that until we got there."

"That's why we didn't swim" Lucas added

"And Nancy, was she with your at this big swim?" Mrs. Wheeler asked

"No" the two girls said as the two boys said yes. They all looked at each other again

"We're not sure" Lucas said

"She was there" Sydney began

"Then she left. It's a little confusing. " Dustin stammered

"That's when you guys came." Lucas shouted out

"Right. Then they dared me to say what I said. About the killer" Max continued

"Oh yeah" they all laughed

"You're lucky you didn't get shot" mr. Wheeler said

"Have you had any contact with Eddie?" The sheriff asked

"That psycho...freak killer? God no. Nope. Absolutely not." Dustin yelled

"No we haven't heard from him in ages." Max shook her head

"Hell no" Sydney exaggerated

"We barely know the guy?" Lucas said

"Eddie who?"

"Oh that's a bunch of bull." Erica steeped forward.

"Erica!" Her two parents yelled at her

"I mean you do realise they're lying. The whole couch is on fire. "

"Erica!"

"Just the facts"

"Are you lying to these policemen dusty?" Dustin mom asked

"No!"dustin yelled

"Lying to cops is a crime, son." Lucas's dad gave out

"I'm not lying" Lucas's voice cracked.

"The fire is consuming us" Erica said

"Threaten them with a little jail time. Maybe that'll loosen their lips" mr. Wheeler said

"You wanna send our kids to jail?" Mrs. Sinclair asked him

"They need to take this seriously"

"He doesn't mean it like that." Karen defended him.

The parents and their kids started arguing so much it became impossible to make out Sydney and max just rolled their eyes at each other.

The sheriff stood up "shut up!" He yelled, silencing everyone. "We're gonna try a more civilised approach. One at a time. You first" he pointed at max.

"Why me?" Max yelled

"Follow me." The sheriff said walking into a different room

"I'm not even in the hellfire club!"
