Chapter 8

As we all got to the start of the obsticle coarse, I managed to get a full view of how huge it is. It was about half a mile with the usual things you would find in an obsticle coarse; monkey bars over a pit, a climbing wall, balance beams, a rope climb, climbing nets with a rope swing at the top and a sonic-styled spring at the very end of the coarse. I was naturally good at a few of the things in this coarse, my weaknesses being the balance beams and rope climb. But something about this coarse felt, different.

"Alright elementals." Cirus spoke. "Welcome to your second trial, the Volcanic Course."

"This looks exciting." One of the elementals said, a boy with a really dark shade of red hair and brighter red eyes. He smiled, bearing fangs.

"Indeed it is, Haru. This coarse was specially designed to test the strength, speed and agility of you elementals. Your task for this trial will be to get to the end of the coarse." Cirus explained.

"Sounds simple enough." The boy from earlier said, a cocky smirk on his face and his arms crossed.

"Oh, on the contrary Axel. You see, this coarse is a lot different from the others you might've gone through. After all, it's called the volcanic course for a reason."

Cirus snapped his fingers, and the ground suddenly began to shake. I struggled to stay on my feet. The entire obsticle coarse started to rumble, then tithe ground rose, swallowing the coarse. Where the obsticle coarse once stood, was now a massive volcano with glowing red and orange veins of lava running down the sides. After finally getting my balance back, I stared up at the massive volcano that just formed, completely lost for words.

"Whoa..." The boy named Axel said in amazement.

"Impressive isn it? The obsticle coarse runs through the volcano on different levels. Once you complete one part of the coarse, you will need to grab a flag and strap it to your belts." Cirus explained.

"Belts? What belts?" One of the elementals asked. A brown leather belt with keyrings suddenly appeared on my waist.

"Those belts." Cirus said. "Now, where was I? Oh, right. Once you get to the end of the coarse at the center of the volcano, jump onto the spring and it will open a door which will lead you out. There will be arrows pointing you in the direction you need to go." Cirus explained.

"But, what about our powers?" I asked. Cirus turned to me.

"Oh, yes your powers. Unlike the first trial, there aren't many binding glyphs in the volcano, so you are free to use your powers at any time throughout the course. Though, I doubt you will be able to do so for long." Cirus grinned.

"What does that mean?" Axel asked.

"That is all I can say at this point. Now, it's time for you elementals to venture into the core of the volcano. I'll be waiting for you at the finish. Good luck, and try not to get burned by the magma and molten rock." Cirus said before disappearing in a swirling red flame tornado.

"Wait, what!?" Haru exclaimed.

"What does he mean 'try not to get burned by the magma and molten rock'?" Another elemental asked.

"I'm guessing he meant exactly what he said." Lexie said. The ground started to rumble again, and a large opening in the volcano formed, showing a corridor leading towards the first obsticle. The inside glowed a vibrant orange as magma slowly flowed down the walls. Haru took a step back and gulped. Lexie stared in amazement. Axel cracked his knuckles. I smirked and ran in. Not long after, I heard the footsteps of the other elementals behind me. The first obsticle was a rope wall about eight or nine feet high with five ropes attached to the top of a ledge.
