Chapter 27

•Alex's P.O.V•

I stared at Damian in shock, hoping that he'd burst out laughing and say that it was a joke. But his eyes still had the same glint of fear in them. His fear was genuine.

"He's coming back?" I asked. Damian held his hand to his forehead, sucking his hair back.

"I don't understand how, i-it doesn't make any sense. The archives have records saying that the guardian of fire sealed the Corrupted King away for eternity. How could he possibly return?" Damian muttered.

"Wait, if he's gonna come back, does that mean that he can corrupt the realm again? Will what happened to those people happen to us?" I asked, a sudden feeling of terror washing over me.

"We need to tell the others about this. Call them on your mirror." Damian said. I pulled out my mirror, gazing into its reflective surface.

"Call team ten." I spoke into the glass. The mirror shimmered for a second before images of my friends' faces appeared in little 'gateways' above the mirror, like holograms.

"Hey, Al." Keith said through his mirror.

"What's up?" Aarya asked through hers.

"Come down to the library, ASAP. Me and Damian discovered something."

"Is it a good something, or a bad something?" Zack asked.

"Just get your butts down here. Now." Damian said.

"Okay, be there soon." Celest said before hanging up. Soon everyone else hung up and gathered in the library a minute later.

"Okay, what's going on?" Aaron asked, his wings flapping impatiently.

"Yeah, what did you two discover?" Natalie asked curiously, with a little anxiety mixed in. Damian motioned to the scroll and the tome.

"It's about the Corrupted King." I said. "He's coming back."

"I'm sorry, what?" Cameron asked in a skeptical tone.

"The corrupted king has been banished to a different realm for all eternity, how could he-"

"Damian found this scroll written in an old version of Runic that he couldn't understand. So he wrote everything in that tome so we could read it and understand what it says." I said quickly, cutting Zielo off  mid-sentence.

"Then once we actually read through it we concluded that it was a prophecy because some of the events in it happened. But then we realised that the second part of it hasn't happened which means that it's probably going to happen later." Damian added, also speaking at a quick pace.

"And long story short, what happened to those people in the past could happen to us." I said. The others looked at me a d Damian like we'd gone crazy. Valid reactions to what we just said.

"Just read this." I gave the tome to Keith, who began reading before his eyes went wide with fear.

"You can't be serious..." He muttered. The others then quickly read the translation and their expressions quickly mirrored Keith's.

"So...He could actually come back?" Zielo asked, his voice low.

"Unfortunately..." I said, scratching my head.

"Hey, guys, check this out." Aaron said. He pointed to the end of the scroll. The rest of us gathered around the scroll, trying to see what Aaron wanted to show us.
