Later into the day, we were all sat around Evie's house watching a movie together. Bens phone starts ringing so he walks off and I take his place, letting Mal rest her head on my shoulder
"You cold?" I ask her
"A little" She nods. My eyes glow red and I radiate some heat to her.
(In case you're wondering how you actually radiate heat:
Phoenix= Fire. Fire= heat. BAM)
She snuggles closer to me and puts a hand on her belly, rubbing gentle circles
"Thank you" She yawns
"No problem" I smile "You can go to sleep if you want" I tell her, running my hand through her hair. She nods and closes her eyes. I feel her head get a little heavier so I assume she fell to sleep
"You okay?" Carlos asks me. I look at him and nod with a smile, looking to the side when I hear Ben come back in
"She's asleep" I whisper. He nods and stops in front of us all with a worried expression on his face. I share a look with Carlos but he looks away and quickly starts walking off after Ben and the others
I go to move but Mal begins to stir so I try my hardest to stay still. I nod my head at Carlos, telling him to carry on so he walks into the other room with the others. After a few minutes, they all come back and look at Mal and I
"Come here" Evie says, taking my place beside Mal
"Nono, she's gonna get cold" I frown
"She'll be fine. Go talk to Ben" She says. I nod and walk into the room with Ben, Carlos and Jay trailing behind
"What's the matter?" I ask, looking between the three boys
"A threat is coming to Auradon" Ben states
I pause and look between them
"Come again" I say, raising my eyebrow
"There's a threat coming to Auradon" He repeats
"A threat? How? We joined the isle and Auradon. We've worked in harmony for almost a year. I don't understand"
"This danger isn't from the Isle... or Auradon. It's beyond our knowledge"
"What are we going to do then?" I ask
"We need to try and find out what or who it is first" Carlos tells me, wrapping an arm around my waist
"And then we can figure out how to fix the problem" Jay finishes
"I'll do it" I speak up "I'll fly out and see what's going on"
"You can't go alone..." Carlos argues
"And Mal's pregnant so there's no way we're letting her go" Ben adds
"I've got the strongest powers in the world, you think a little threat is going to take me down?" I scoff
"You're stronger when we're together" We all turn around and see Mal walk in, Evie trailing behind
"I tried to tell her not to come in"
"Mal, I love you... but you can't help me with this one"
"I'm not just going to sit back and let you do this alone" She frowns
"I know you want to help. But you need to think about the baby" I sigh "What if you get hurt"
She looks down and sighs. She looks back up at me and her eyes glow green, mine following and glowing red. She takes my hand and our eyes glow brighter
"We're stronger when we work together"
"Mal... please" I sigh, letting my hand slip from hers. I can feel my power fade but I look away from her "I can't let you do this"
"I'm choosing to help you!" She states
"And I'm choosing to do this by myself!" I fight back
"I am your Queen!"
"It is my job to protect you!" I shout. She goes quiet and looks me in the eyes
"You're fired" She states
"What?!" I scoff
"It's not your job to protect me anymore"
"You can't be serious" I frown "Ben?"
"Mal, you can't do this" He speaks up
"Yes I can" She nods
"You're carrying a baby! How in any way is this safe! For either of you!" I state
"Because I'll have you by my side"
"Mal... please" I beg
"I'm helping you. And none of you can stop me" She turns on her heal and leaves, Ben following close behind
"Mal" I sigh, going to walk after her but someone grabs my hand. I turn and see Jay shaking his head
"She'll come around" He smiles. I nod my head and drop down onto the sofa
"I don't want her getting hurt" I whisper "What if something happens to her whilst we are out there? It would be entirely my fault for not protecting her"
"It wouldn't be your fault" Carlos tells me. I shake my head, bringing my knees to my chest as resting my head against my legs
"I'm not like I used to be..." I mutter
"What do you mean?" Evie asks
"I can't just go out there with the mindset of I don't give a shit about anything or anyone"
"Language" Carlos whispers. I laugh slightly but carry on
"I've changed. I actually feel love" I say, holding Carlos's hand "I feel a connection" I take Evie's hand "I have something to live and fight for now..."
"That's a good thing, isn't it?" She frowns
"Well, yeah. But I've lost my touch. I can't build that rage up anymore..." I lean my head back "I can't find the anger within me to use my power"
"Then don't feel for the anger" Jay states, causing me to look at him "Feel the love... the bond... You don't need anger to be able to fight. You only need something to fight for"
"I have something to fight for" I nod, looking between them all "I have you guys"
"Then fight for what you want to fight for. Fight to protect us. Fight to protect Auradon" He smiles
"Thank you, Jay. That's the pep talk I needed" I stand up and move over to him, pulling him into a hug
"If you're doing this, we're doing this together" Mal states, walking into the room "We're stronger when we are with each other and we can fight this off... if we work together"
I look between everyone and they all give me a knowing look. I sigh and look at Mal
"Because we're rotten" I smile, looking at her as my eyes glow red
"To the core" They all finish, Mal's eyes glowing green as she looks into mine. I walk over to her and pull her into a tight hug
"I love you, M" I whisper
"I love you too, Y"
