think him a fool

they said you're no good
toxic, manipulator, liar
he didn't know who to believe
in his heart, he considered their words
words he would never assign to you himself
but as he thought about it, it all made sense
the things you do
the things you say
the way you say them
the purposeful arrangement of your words
it felt like a trick
like a mockery
like you think him a fool
do you think he's a fool?
when you treat him so cruel?
when you lie to him,
do you really think he'll believe you?
do you really think you're invulnerable,
that he'll never discover your truth?
you really do take him for a fool
a jester, a mode of entertainment
a silly little plaything you can laugh at
an object for you to use
when it's most convenient for you
then when you're done you'll drop him
back in the toychest
with all your other toys and trinkets
all the others you used before
all the others you decided were worthless
