Aurora Barker had been a simple girl. She grew up the daughter of a stonemason and a baker in the sixteen-hundreds. Born on December 15, 1675, she was the only daughter of Anne and Derek Barker and sister to Sebastian Barker, who had gone into masonry with their father.

By 1692, she was seventeen and betrothed-to-marry a farmer's son. That very year the Salem Witch Trials struck, bringing the death of many in her village. Many were accused and many had died on false charges. She had been one of the many.

She could not remember specific details of that unfortunate night. All she could remember was the pain in her neck and the sound of the forest surrounding her. When her eyes finally opened, days had past. There had been a god-like man reading a book across the room of cabin.

A while after she awoke, she made the mistake of going too close to a nearby village. It had ended in carnage, many in the village had fallen victim to her newborn bloodlust, and in the end, she had regretted doing so.

After a decade of traveling, she met Nikolus's mentor, a vampire by the name of Cassiopeia. They got on well and became friends until the woman departed from the two.

In the end, the duo decided to part ways, keeping in contact often.

Over the next few centuries, she traveled the New World, meeting a few like herself along the way, she had even became briefly acquainted a coven that originated from Slovakia, they had been staying in what is now called Alaska. The legend of the succubi had come from the three blonde sisters. This was where she discovered her gift of speed.

She had eventually run into a certain golden-eyed doctor. She traveled with him after learning of his vegetarian diet. She had become curious about it while staying with the sisters but had never pursued it.

In 1911, they found a young girl by the name of Esme Platt. She had broken her leg falling from a tree. Carlisle had become besotted with the young girl but did not want another to become damned to hell as he believed they were.

In 1918, they formed a bond with a woman, Elisabeth Masen. She and her son, Edward, had caught the Spanish flu and were hospitalized where Carlisle was working at the time. She had begged Carlisle to save her son with her dying breath and so he did. The woman had died that very night, leaving the now immortal boy to mourn her. They had eventually discovered he had a gift, just like Aurora but different, he could read minds. He had soon become like a brother to Aurora and a son to Carlisle.

In 1921, they found Esme once again. The woman had lost her newborn son and in her despair, she had jumped from a cliff in an attempt to end her life. Carlisle had caught her scent and had turned the woman before she could pass into the afterlife. Throughout the years they had fallen in love and got married.

In 1933, Aurora had been on a nighttime stroll when she caught the scent of blood coming from a woman, Rosalie Hale. She had changed the girl and later on aided her in taking revenge on the men that defiled her. Carlisle had hoped she would become the now broody Edward's soulmate, but it was for naught. They were alike siblings to one another, bickering often. Aurora and Rosalie had gotten along well, they had eventually become very good friends and sisters to one another.

In 1935, Rosalie had been out hunting and came across a man that had been mauled by a bear. She had then carried him for over one hundred miles in hopes that Carlisle or Aurora would change him. Carlisle had not been there that day, but Aurora had been. Rosalie had begged which was unlike the woman, so she had taken pity on the boy and turned him. Once he had awoken, he immediately became infatuated with the blonde beauty.

They were insufferably adorable for centuries. Many of their homes had to be rebuilt.

Around 1950, Mary Alice Brandon and Jasper Whitlock joined their slow-growing family. They had found that Alice was a seer and had sought them out based on her selective visions. Jasper was her mate and an empath and had drunk human blood for his entire vampire life, causing it to be troublesome to adjust to the vegetarian lifestyle. Not to mention the bloodlust he felt from the others.

Jasper and Rosalie posed as the Hale twins while Aurora, Emmett, Alice, and Edward had taken on the patriarch's surname, Cullen.

Much later, they had moved to Forks, Washington, a small town under a near constant cover of clouds and rain, the perfect cover, and had met the shapeshifters, the Quileute Tribe, they had made a treaty with the men. The treaty stated that the Quileutes would leave the coven alone and not reveal them to the humans if they would refrain from biting humans - whether to kill or change them―or trespassing on Quileute land without permission from the council and/or the alpha of the pack. Breaking the treaty would lead to war between the tribe and coven.

They had kept moving over the years as to not be caught, with a few of them splitting apart every now and then, before they finally came back to Forks, Washington. It was a town that the coven enjoyed living in.
