Chapter 14

We hit land, John B and I jumped overboard, he staked in the rope, I looked around.
John B said" Okay, ready?"
Sarah said" Yeah."
" One, two." He put her down onto the sand, he grabbed the gas cans," Hey, listen, we're gonna get some gas, find a phone, and get out of here, alright?" We started walking,
" How are we gonna pay for the gas?"
" Don't worry about it. We'll figure it out."

We passed people eating,
John B said" That looks so good. I'm starving." I groaned,
I said" Why'd you say anything?" We walked up to a patio," We gotta get some food."
" Follow my lead."
Sarah said" Okay." John B walked ahead of us and knocked into a server, who spilled shit all over a customer.
Customer said" You idiot."
Server said" I'm so sorry."
Sarah said" Oh, my god. Your shoes!"
Customer said" This is a $1,700 jacket."
" I am so sorry."
John B said" A hundred percent on me. I'm sorry. I bumped into him." Sarah swiped the cash,
" Is there anything I can do?"
Customer said" You're saying you're gonna pay for it?"
John B said" I don't have any money. I'm broke."
" Of course you don't. Pathetic." Sarah and I walked around,
Server said" Let me talk to a manager, okay?"
John B said" I'm sorry."
Sarah said" No need for name calling, sir." We walked away,
" Did you get it?"
" What are you talking about? You mean this?" She pulled out the money,
" Oh my god."
" I'll sugar mama you."
" I was hoping you would say that."
I said" We are horrible influences, John B. I mean, damn!" I bounced around, John B shook his head,
" Settle, settle. Shh, shh." I sighed, calming down, I smiled,
" Think we can go to the college? Nick-"
" We can't. You know that we can't, Kai." I sighed,
" He's probably not even there... you know, he's-he's probably taking the semester off, you know, to be with mom and dad."
" Yeah, Kai."

John B said" Alright. How many hot dogs you want?"
Sarah said" Okay, like, 50." She handed him the money,
" 50 hot dogs?"
" 100. I don't care." John B and I walked into the store.

John B and I walked out,
John B said" They ran out of the real deal." Sarah shushed him," They're vegan. What?"
Sarah said" He's right there! He's literally right-" I saw the couple we stole from, shit, shit, shit.
Dude said" Hey! You! Come here! Thieves! You stole my money! Come here." I helped Sarah stand as John B grabbed the gas cans and we took off running.

We fell as we were almost ran over, I immediately jumped up and saw Heyward's truck.
Sarah said" Maniac. Wait. Is that..."
John B and I said" Heyward?"
" Heyward's truck." John B picked up the gas cans and we ran after the truck, as the guy started chasing us again.

I heard our friend's screaming, we stopped and saw they were running, I smiled.
John B yelled" Hey! JJ! Pope! Kie!"
Sarah yelled" Guys!"
I said" Shit! He's still after us!"
John B said" Come on. We gotta find them." We got onto the bike buggy, John B taking the wheel," How do you work this thing?"
" Go! Go!" We took off, I was holding onto John B's shoulders as I stood up.
Sarah said" Pope, Kie, JJ!" Then we stopped as they ran out in front of us,
John B said" Get in! Get in! Get in! Come on!" Kie jumped in, Pope and JJ started pushing as John B pedaled,
JJ said" Go, John B, go!"
Pope said" Oh, shit!"
" Come on, Pope! Push! Come on!" JJ jumped on next to me," Pedal, John B! He's gaining!"
John B said" I'm pedaling!"
" He's gaining, man!" Then Pope fell, rolling and jumping up, he ran, Kie grabbed his hand and he pulled himself up. We all yelled, the guy that was chasing them caught up. We all pushed him off, we all laughed," See you later, alligator."
Pope said" See you later, asshole. Oh my god!"
" Blowin' you a little big kiss!"

We got to the boat,
JJ said" Is this you?" We jumped down onto the beach, I ran to the boat, jumping on it.
I said" Hand off!" John B gave me the gas cans, he helped Sarah back onboard and walked to me. We filled the tank up with what we had.
