Alizée Sauveterre

Present day...

We moved to New York a month later. It's been 4 years since I've stepped a foot in Louisiana. I miss it dearly. The long hot Summers. To the warm cooling Autumns. The aroma of everyones food in the street at the 4th July block party. The southern hospitality that warmed my heart each day.

But not here. It's practically cold all year with the few days in July when it gets hot. However, they still didn't match the Louisiana heat. Harsh snowing winters. Down poring rainstorms. And very rude people. I had to get used to it all.

But I wasn't the only one who hated it. Mémé hated it too. She said everything about New York just reminded her how it was so different from what she was used to. But I think it's because Pépé isn't here to make it not so bad.

When we were told that we were moving Mémé refused. As so me and Antoine. Mémé had to move with us because Papa didn't want her to be alone. Our parents told us we had to move for business purposes.

The "business purposes" in question had to do with our "family business". We were the head family of the Sauveterre Famille Le Milieu. One of the biggest French mobs. We were pretty well known in the Mafia world. Especially Papa when he became Caïd. He was the scariest and powerful mobster since Pépé.

We were feared by anyone and everyone who knew us. Kinda like the feeling of being feared once we enter a room. It's... demanding. i love it.

But this year. I'm going to be Caïd. Once I turn 18. At first Antione was going to be Caïd because he was a male and the rule was the first born male becomes Caïd. Once he is the age 18 or is ready to take the title. But Pépé said it should be me since I was the first born.

Papa refused saying that I wouldn't be able to handle it like a man would. It did hurt my feelings a little. But Pépé response was "Anything a man could do a women could do better and more. Je ne vous laisserai pas discréditer ma petite-fille comme si elle était faible. And don't forget that you are not my eldest son. And look at you. I made you Caïd. Yet you have no problem with that."

(I won't let you discredit my granddaughter as if she were weak)

Plus Antione didn't want to be Caïd. He didn't think it was a fit for him and said I would be better. So the deal was I'll be Caïd and he would be the Parrain if he wanted. Which is what I'm classified as of now. Parrain is like Caïd but without all the responsibilities. Wish they would have given it to me from jump but it's whatever.

"Alizée! Hurry up! We gotta go!" Antoine yells from down stairs.

"I'm coming! Stop yelling at me!" I responded loudly. I think I heard an echo.
