Me and Mia were thrown back into awkward silence as we sat inside my house, honestly, I'm not sure what I was thinking bringing her here, not only without permission, but she was a strange girl I had just met.
Really, she could be a killer too for all I knew, and now she knew where I lived.
She slowly clicked her tails together, "So... Is he a friend of yours?..." I allowed myself to sink back into my couch.
"Not really, just someone I know.." I mumbled, we both slipped back into silence, the air felt thick, suffocating almost, Mia fiddled with her fingers.
"So...why was he so possessive back there?.. I was afraid he'd come and rip my head off..." Mia chuckled nervously, I bit the inside of my cheek.
"Hell would I know, he's just like that, he's so pissy... And pushy." I grumbled, I knew that wasn't even the half of it, and by the look on Mia's face made me think she knew I wasn't letting her in on everything.
I let out a long sigh, "Sorry.." I muttered, "I haven't been the friendliest lately." But to my surprise, Mia just smiled gently.
"It's okay," she said calmly, "I can already tell you're stressed, but I guess I just have a habit to talk too much." We both let out a small chuckle before we heard a knock on the door.
I slowly got up and stared at the door, I felt slightly nauseous, not knowing who was at the door, whoever it was, it was nobody I wanted to see, I reached my door and turned the knob, revealing Lexi, who for once, didn't have Bernie by her side.
"Hey!" Lexi chirped excitedly, she took a step in before I could invite her, she stopped as she spotted Mia, who was now sitting up, Lexi glanced back at me, "Ah...did I interrupt...." She awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck, "I just didn't expect you to be the type.."
I felt my ears grow hot, "No! It's not like that! I just met her!-" I stopped realizing that could be taken the wrong way, "I mean, she's just a friend, but I've only met her recently, it's a long story." I mumbled.
Lexi's eyebrow raised, and she slowly leaned in closer to me, causing me to lean back, she took a few steps closer and smelled around my neck, I stiffened, "Er..Lexi?" I asked, Lexi took a few steps back.
"Who were you with then?" She asked, I tilted my head, confused, she frowned, "Who's smell is all over you then, it's hers right?" She asked, now my entire body seemed to flush over, Reed flashed into my mind.
"No! I just ran into somebody!" I frowned, a smirk crept up onto Lexis's face, "Stop! I'm serious!" I groaned, Lexi chuckled and gently pushed my arm.
"It's fine, we all know you're a virgin." Lexi joked, I hung my head, hoping Mia wouldn't have overheard, but I heard her giggle, "I'm kidding Ryan, geez." Lexi added, more softly this time.
Really, I didn't think Mia nor Lexi was laughing at the fact that I was, but just because it was how Lexi had said it out of nowhere.
Mia giggled, "Geez Ryan, another girl? Right after Reed too." Both me and Lexi turned towards Mia quickly, my chest tightened, I could almost feel the curiosity leak from Lexi.
"Who?" Lexi asked, taking a step towards Mia.
"Don't you have somewhere to be? Fuck." I snapped at Mia, "Why are you in my business, you don't even know what happened." Both Mia and Lexi looked shocked.
"S-sorry I didn't-" Mia began.
"Just get out!" I snapped loudly, Mia quickly got to her feet and left, muttering another apology, Lexi looked surprised, I knew she wasn't one to let things go.
"Who's Reed?" Lexi asked almost as soon as Mia left.
"No, she meant right after reading." I huffed, Lexi didn't look convinced.
"Then why did you get mad at her?" She asked, I started to feel a bit annoyed.
"Because, I didn't like the way she was talking like I was some sort of player.." I lied, Lexi leaned closer and sniffed me again.
"She doesn't smell like what you smell like right now," Lexi hummed, I frowned, I watched her eyebrows start to scrunch together, "Where do I know this smell from?" She asked quietly, more to herself than to me, I quickly moved back.
"Don't you have somewhere to be?" I asked, Lexi looked surprised, "Er... I mean, like, what brings you here?" I asked, trying to change the subject, Lexi stared at me suspiciously for a few seconds before she decided to reply.
"I just came to ask if you wanted to go to a party," she hummed, "It's later today, kinda last minute though." I frowned, I wasnt really feeling parties.
"Who's party?" I asked, Lexi rolled her eyes playfully,
"Somebodys I'm sure," she replied jokingly, "Just come, it'll be fun."
"Nobody'll want me there." I huffed, and it was true, I wasnt particularly popular, and besides Bernie, I didn't really have friends, just people I talked to when I saw them now and again.
"You're being dramatic," Lexi groaned, pushing her honey colored hair back, "I doubt anyone is concerned about who shows up and who doesn't."
I closed my eyes, my brain seemed to slam against my skull, "Yeah yeah, I'll go.." I groaned, "When?"
Lexi's face brightened, "Great! You should be there at seven, it'll be dark by then." I gave a nod in reply and she opened the door, getting ready to leave, she stopped, "Don't ditch me either." She huffed, "This is a promise, you basically promised you'd be there!" She quickly shut the door before I could say anything more.
A small smile crept up onto my face, I forgot how much I missed Lexi, maybe I just needed to relax and forget about everything for an hour or two at least, I ran my hand through my hair.
I gently pulled my shirt closer to my nose to smell it, it contained the strong familiar scent of Reed, I quickly let go of the shirt before my mind allowed itself to wander.
I needed to be more careful, but more importantly, I most definitely needed to have Reed see I could never have him as mate, and get him to leave.
