"Come on light..."
It was g Thursday and I was running late to pick up the kids today. My assistant messed up an order so I decided to handle the issue myself and lost track of time.
She's just starting out so I wasn't harsh but just to make sure I did it on my own this time.
I checked the time on my dashboard reading 6:15. The center closes at six now after they changed their times. I called Mr.Smith already before I even drove over that I would be a few minutes late.
I pulled up into the parking lot of the daycare as I parked and got out grabbing my wallet knowing I owed him a late fee.
Working in a daycare when I was in high school I know how most of them worked with a late fee cause the daycare wouldn't pay overtime. I pulled open the door heading straight to their classroom
" I'm sorry for being late. I lost track of time today"
Mr. Smith turned his head so quick startled as he glanced at the time " Miss Allen please calm down. It's alright. You have been at this daycare for about two years and this is like what? Your second time being late? It's truly fine "
I handed him $40 for the late fee " please take this" and I know he was about to protest but stopped when I gave him a pointed look and he took it
I turned to my babies as they were already getting their things. My eyes zoned in on Kairi still here with the triplets going along with them to grab her things
I turned to Mr. Smith "it's Kairi's mom day to pick up. Did she say anything at all?"
"No, I haven't heard from her at all today. Left a message and everything on the app about todays pick up also "
I nodded "okay I'll just sign Kairi out with us. Thanks Mr. Smith"
"No problem" he went to cleaning and packing up his things.
"Mama you late." Anaya said hugging my legs
"Yes mommy is so sorry I was busy doing something and I forgot to check the time"
"Is Kairi coming with us ?" Amir asked as he slid his backpack on walking towards the door
"Yes Kairi is coming home with us. What do y'all say to mr.Smith ?"
"Thankyou Mr. Smith & Goodnight!"
"Goodnight you all"
We walked out the classroom as I signed them all out on the new kiosk "all right let's go"
We walked towards the car as I unlocked it and opened it for everyone to get in. They buckled themselves in as I watched them and then closed the door and settled in the front seat and locked the doors
