We're getting close to the end. Only two more chapters to go. I have decided to continue this series tho since it has been pretty fun to write, so yeah.

Anyway, enjoy.

They were muttations, no question about it. (M/N) had never seen those mutts, but they weren't natural-born animals. They resembled huge wolves, but no wolf could land and then balance easily on its hind legs. Up close, he was sure more menacing attributes would be revealed.

Mirio had made a beeline for the Cornucopia, and without question, (M/N) followed him. If Mirio thought that was the safest place then who was (M/N) to argue? Even if he could make it to the trees, it would be impossible for Katsuki to outrun them on that leg...

Katsuki!

(M/N)'s hands had just landed on the metal at the pointed tail of the Cornucopia when he remembered that he was a part of a team. The blonde was about fifteen metres behind him, hobbling as fast as he could, but the mutts were closing in on him fast. (M/N) sent an arrow into the pack and one went down, but there were plenty more to take its place.

Katsuki was waving him up the horn. "Go, (M/N)! Go!"

He's right. I can't protect either of us on the ground. (M/N) started climbing, scaling the Cornucopia on his hands and feet. The silver surface had been designed to resemble the woven horn they used to fill at harvest, so there were little ridges and seams to get a decent hold on. But after a day in the arena sun, the metal felt hot enough to blister (M/N)'s hands.

Mirio was sprawled out on his side at the very top of the horn, six metres above the ground, gasping to catch his breath as he gagged over the edge. That was (M/N)'s chance to finish him off.

He stopped midway up the horn and loaded another arrow, but just before he let it fly, he heard Katsuki yell out. (M/N) twisted around to see that the blonde had just reached the tail, with the mutts right on his heels.

"Climb!" (M/N) shouted. Katsuki started up, hampered by not only his leg but the knife in his hand. (M/N) shot his arrow down the throat of the first mutt that placed its paws on the metal. As it died the creature lashed out, inadvertently opening gashes on a few of its companions. That was when (M/N) got a really good look at the claws. Ten centimetres and clearly razor-sharp.

Katsuki reached his feet and (M/N) grabbed his arm and pulled him up. Then he remembered that Mirio was waiting at the top and whipped around, but the Career was still doubled over with cramps and apparently more preoccupied with the mutts than the two boys. He coughed out something unintelligible. The snuffling, growling sound coming from the mutts wasn't helping.

"What?" (M/N) shouted.

"He said, 'Can they climb it?'" Katsuki answered, drawing (M/N)'s focus back to the base of the horn.

The mutts were beginning to assemble. As they joined together, they raised up again to easily stand on their back legs, giving them an eerily human quality. Each one had a thick coat with colours varying from jet black to what (M/N) could only describe as blonde. There was something else about them, something that made his hair rise on the back of his neck, but he couldn't put a finger on what it was.

They put their snouts on the horn, sniffing and tasting the metal, scraping paws over the surface and then making high-pitched yipping sounds to each other. (M/N) assumed that was how they communicated, because the pack backed up as if to make room. Then one of them, a big mutt with periwinkle fur, took a running start and leaped onto the horn. Its back legs had to be incredibly powerful because it landed a mere three metres below the two.
