Chairman Sakayanagi's POV

Like every year I was standing outside the main gate of one of the many schools where the entrance exam is taken. It was a tradition at this point, it started when I had yet to take the chairman position from my father.

I could clearly remember that day, during those days I was working as an examiner. It was an easy job, I only have to make sure no one cheated. However, it wasn't a pleasant job. I saw students doing their best effort, all just to be one of the accepted applicants.

Unfortunately all that effort was out for nothing as the results were already set in stone. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the ones who weren't going to be chosen, there was no way to know how hard everyone had worked for something that was already decided.

That's why from that day during the evaluation period I'll keep myself looking for a student that picked my interest. Sadly that didn't happen until now, so far all students had been quite normal. However I had the feeling that today was going to be different.

That became true when I saw someone I could recognise, I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. It was Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, the son of the man who I once admired. I thought that I was mistaken but after checking the list of applicants my fears became true.

Unexpectedly he wasn't alone, walking to his side was a blonde haired girl who was holding his arm. The expression in her face was the one of a maiden in love. Unfortunately Kiyotaka-kun was the epitome of expressionlessness, they were what one would call an odd couple.

I couldn't blame him though, in fact I believe that if he were acting like a normal teenager sensei would have a heart attack. He was so proud of his masterpiece that if something were to happen to him, he would be the first to react. He wasn't worried about him as a father would though but as the owner of a property.

I would do the same if something were to happen to my dear Arisu, despite the way she carried herself she was still a frail child. She was my precious daughter, I would move heaven and earth if necessary for her.

Come to think of it, actually I already did it. Those changes I made for this year weren't easy to make. I had fought tooth and nail to bend some rules, I wasn't playing favoritism though. If I were to do it Arisu would hate me and I didn't think I could survive that. Just imagining it makes me want to cry.

Like every year the entrance exams and interviews were nothing but a disguise to the real process of admission. However, thanks to all my efforts I made some little changes that would benefit Arisu.

This time the school would reward the top scorer between all the accepted applicants, the problem was what kind of reward. We couldn't give anything that would interfere in class competition so there were few choices.

In the end we took the safest one, which consisted of giving that student one of the two bigger apartments in the dormitories. Also I managed to include a permanent discount if the student somehow aced the exam which was technically impossible.

There shouldn't be any student capable of doing it. Even for my beloved daughter who was considered to be a genius, that was out of her reach. However, there were bound to be some exceptions.

That exception had a name, said name was Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. Last time I saw his progress was when he was still a kid, at that time he was already doing the curriculum of highschool so it wouldn't be a surprise if he had already surpassed university level or was even beyond that.

Still it wouldn't be bad if he were to receive those rewards even if it were meant for Arisu. I always wanted to help him so I think it should be fine. I wonder what else I could do for him? I was already planning on accepting him and the girl who was accompanying him.

That's right I'll put them in the same classroom but which class should I choose. Arisu was allocated at Class A so that was out of the question. She had an unhealthy obsession with Kiyotaka-kun after all.

According to the summaries I read about the students of Class B, they seemed friendly enough but still there was a small problem. Being at Class B means that he'll definitely get involved in class competition.

I wanted him to have a laid back life at the school, he has been working hard for years so he deserves this little period of rest. Whether or not he decides to participate is up to him, I'm just giving him the options in the end.

Thus it was either Class C or Class D, if I were to choose between them, the deciding factor would be the homeroom teacher. Chabashira-sensei was a better choice than Sakagami-sensei, she wouldn't interfere with her students too much. Now the only thing I needed to do is find the identity of that girl.

Author's notes

Hello there, thank you for reading. I said that I planned to write 3 side stories before the next chapter but there might be only two. In fact this one should be longer but I kind of run out of ideas. I'll try to make them at least more than 500 words so don't worry.
