Previously we saw Issei returned back to home, being helpless in saving Asia, as well as knowing a heavy betrayal, he knew that the only thing he could do is to return home. He was greeted by his twin sister, Masumi Hyoudou, whom he angrily rebuffed since he was not in a mood, he remembers how his childhood and school days were a living nightmare thanks to two of his classmates, Yui Katase and Kaori Murayama, they were the ones that made his life a living hell, no matter whether he was in school, or in home as his parents kind of abused him for his actions in school. He eventually slept with tears in his eyes. In his dream scape, he first encountered the Welsh Dragon Ddraig and second he encountered the Demon God Zalgo, both of them showed him compassion, something he had not felt in a long time, which did surprise the duo, realizing that his life was not good, they then decide to train Issei in becoming the strongest, Zalgo then informed Issei about the deal, which he accepts without a second thought, much to Zalgo's happiness, Issei then opens his eyes, and sees that it is a Sunday, he gets down, for breakfast, needless to say it was confrontational to say the least, with Issei giving his parents, the silent treatment, the parents were not happy and demanded him to talk which did not end well. The confrontation ended with Issei taking his food in his room, and his parents in complete confusion, after heading to his room, he talks to Zalgo and Ddraig, as they explain him the training they have set him up for, they first intend to convert him into the first Demonic Dragon, as well as intense spell training along with Physical and mental training. Zalgo knew that Issei going missing would cause a lot of suspicion so he devised a plan, he instead took Issei to the Null Dimension, where Time completely stops allowing Issei to train as much as he wanted without any issues. They begin the conversion procedure followed by six months of intense training, Issei learnt a lot of things, first was the ability Corrupt, which was a broken ability to say the least, the second was multiple manipulations, from reality to soul. After that the thing to close his training was his him learning balance breaker, Zalgo pushed him resulting in him unlocking his balance breaker, and this was different from his usual balance breaker, considering his training to be success, Issei heads back to his own dimension, and first takes a bath and changes his facial appearance, he seemed to be buffer than his usual self. Masumi then called him to have lunch, which he did, he still gave his parents the silent treatment much to their sadness, he then heads off to sleep, the next day before going to school he is warned by Zalgo, taking his warning seriously Issei knew that he will have to face his ex master at some point, no matter what happens.

Issei headed to his school, Kuoh Academy, the school that seemed to be nice on the surface, was not at all, the Kuoh Academy, once a pure girl school, was changed into a co-ed school, Issei and his friends Matsuda and Motohama, were in this school, while Matsuda and Motohama wanted to get into this school to find a girlfriend, Issei had different intentions, he wanted to get into a good college, maybe in America but here, in Tokyo would have also been fine.

Matsuda was young man with shaved hair and normally wears his Kuoh Academy uniform with an unbuttoned blazer. Matsuda is a former jock and school sports star back in junior high school where he broke multiple records, but he's in the Photo-Club now. Motohama, on the other hand, wore a similar uniform to Issei, which consists of a blazer (more commonly black, although in other media is shown with a tinge of purple or grey, with white accents) over a white, long-sleeved dress shirt with black highlights with a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes. He wore glasses and has a normal haircut, with his black hair being shorter than Issei.
