Fear of the Water

I wake up and see Finnick still asleep.

I carefully crawl out of bed; being careful to not wake Finnick.

I successfully get up and walk out of the room without waking him. I walk downstairs and leave a note for Finnick telling him I'm going to the beach.

I walk out of the house and walk down to the beach.

This is only the second time I've come here since I got back from the games and the first time I had a panic attack.

I'm trying to face my fear of the water. It's not easy.

I take my shoes off and walk towards the ocean.

The second the water hits my toes panic rises up into my chest. It starts getting hard to breathe. I quickly back away from the water as fear and panic consume me.

I'm back in the arena and the water rushes in. It's coming from every direction and the screams become unbearably loud.

I cover my ears and I close my eyes tightly as I scream over and over again.

I hear each of the canons boom as tribute after tribute dies.

I feel someone touch my shoulder and I flinch away from them.

I see a tribute behind me and has a sword in their hand. They bring the sword down and I scream.

"Annie it's me, Finnick!" I hear.

I see Finnick bring the sword down to my heart. I start crying.

"Annie hey open your eyes it's not real!" I hear.

I scream until my throat is raw.

I open my eyes slowly and see Finnick.

He gently pulls my hands away from ears.

I stare at him; shaking in fear.

"Annie you're safe and you're never going back," he tells me.

I stay silent.

"Let's get you back home," Finnick says.

I don't say anything.

Finnick picks me up,bridal style, and walks home.

When we get home, Finnick sets me on the couch. He sits beside me.

I stare at the wall and I stay silent.

Finnick sits beside me until I'm ready to talk.

Finnick does this with me every single day.

He never once leaves my side.

He is definitely the best person ever.
