Katherine was eating breakfast alone today, again.

It had already been the 3rd week of school and she hadn't seen Ayla and Blair since the very first day.

Kat didn't know why her friends mysteriously disappeared but it made her very anxious. Maybe this was finally the year when her friends would go off and forget about her because they were in different houses.

Kat got up and walked alone to her charms class. She didn't care that she was 20 minutes early, she would rather be alone in an empty classroom than be alone in a room full of students. Once she entered an almost empty room, she was surprised to see Lupin sitting alone in his seat reading a book.

"Hi." She said softly. The silence of the classroom was too empty for her to speak any louder.

"Hi." He replied.

This was how it had been every day for the last three weeks, a simple "hi" was the only thing either of them usually said.

"Why are you here?" She asked. Seeing Lupin alone wasn't something Kat saw often, he was usually surrounded by his unusually loud friends.

"Sirius, Peter, and James wanted to prank Snape again and I cannot stand to get another detention." He sighed at the thought of getting detention for almost the 3rd time this school year.

"Oh." Kat nodded before pulling out her sketchbook.

"What about you?" He asked back.

"I couldn't stand being alone in the Great Hall again." She said, not really seeming to mind her loneliness.

"Oh." That was all Remus could say. He wanted to ask her about her 2 friends who were with her before but he didn't feel like it was his place to ask.

"Nice book." She pointed out the book he seemed to be very focused on.

"You know Pride & Prejudice?" He asked, surprised. He didn't know many wizards or witches who read muggle books other than muggle-borns.

"It's only the best romance book ever." She smiled. "I'm surprised though, I didn't really take you for a romance kind of guy."
