As pitch-black as the devil's soul, the sky was. The world grew pitch-black, and the quaking, heaving sky appeared ready to fall over Shanvi, who was shaking terribly in fright. Doom-black clouds raged and roiled, full of wrath. From the window, they appeared to be as vaporous as mist and as soft as black wool.

A clanking sound from the sky caused her to hide her face between her knees, wrapping her arms tightly around her. She trembled, buzzing and hissing, for fear of reliving her childhood trauma, which seemed to arouse within her.

A sonic boom-like explosion followed, and she frightened for her safety as a loud sob came out of her and she covered her face with trembling hands.

A hand approached her shoulder as she heard her name being called. Mumbling out incoherently she choked back her cries behind her hands.

"What happened?" she heard Hafid's concerned voice just then he removed her hands from her face.

He was awakened by her sniffling and weeping, but all of his sleep vanished instantly when he saw her huddled up against the headboard in that state. He became so concerned for her that he moved quickly to be by her side.

Pulling her closer to his bare chest he wrapped his arms around her securely.

"Shan just tell me what's wrong" he rubbed her back frantically, asking her to tell him what was wrong, but she merely tightened her hold on him.

A booming crack of thunder appeared out of nowhere, prompting her to flinch and press her face into his chest, her nails digging into his skin.

"Shhhhh..." He grabbed his phone and airpods off the nightstand while reaching out his hand. In an effort to calm her down, he put the airpods In her ears and played some music to help her relax.

He feels so proud of himself at times because he is never wrong about her. What he observes about her is always correct. Unlike him, she is an open book. He wondered if she could ever learn about him in the same way that he does by perceiving her.

Her head went up and down in rhythm to his breathing as she turned her head towards the window and gazed outside while resting her tired head on his chest.

Silence.

Silence felt good to them both. Nonetheless, each other's company was important. This silence felt good because they were both there for one another.

She drifted off into infinity, allowing the locked-away memories of happy times to creep into her dreams just as the lightning and thunder boomed, causing her to close her eyes tightly and dig her face into his chest once more.

Thanks to the airpods, which effectively muffled the thunder.

He cautiously opened the curtains, separating himself from her.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" he muttered under his breath as he sat in front of her, only to have her stare him down with her puppy eyes.

She raised her brows as she carefully removed the airpods.
