PRINCESS NAERYS VELARYON WAS NOT oblivious to the fact that she was a bastard.
Ser Laenor was her father in name only, for it was clear that she did not inherit any of his physical traits — nor did her brothers. As if it was not obvious to every lord and lady in court, her uncles rarely failed to remind her and her brothers of their true heritage. It appeared as though King Viserys was the only person in the realm who refused to accept the extramarital activities of his daughter.
No one could deny, however, that the blood of the dragon ran thick through her veins.
Like plenty of their ancestors, she was gifted a dragon's egg upon her birth. At the tender age of ten, she took to the skies for the first time on dragonback and loved every moment she spent amidst the clouds, away from every nuisance, every rumor, every responsibility and every royal who eyed her in contempt for being born in such a way. For the sake of her mother, she would keep playing the game, she would keep pretending to be a Velaryon, even if it meant that she had to endure the infuriating remarks of her uncles.
