Storm
Coach pulled me aside after practice tonight along with Jack and we talked in his office for almost an hour. The three of us have been so on edge lately, I told Asher about what happened to Fey at work and he freaked out. He mentioned getting a restraining order but I doubt that would keep either of them away. She has classes with some of the guys on the team like Kent and Tristan, who have been keeping an eye on her and reporting back to me.
She jokes that she doesn't need body guards around her all the time, but I beg to differ. I would rather her feel overly protected than risk one of those fuckers coming after her. Luckily it's the beginning of December which means we'll have winter break soon enough. We haven't talked about our plans but what I do know is I'm not spending six weeks away from her and I bet she feels the same way.
I brought up telling her about the texts, but Asher doesn't think it's necessary and that it will only cause her to worry even more. I agree with him but Jack disagrees and we argue about it until he promises to keep his mouth shut. The last I want is to add even more stress onto her shoulders. We have finals coming up and she's been working long hours at the coffee shop because they're short staffed.
We walk out of his office and Jack's quiet "What's up with you?" I ask as we step out into the chilly winter night and it starts to lightly snow.
"I think keeping those texts and what happened at that bar and to your truck from her is bullshit. She should know someone's up to something" he says angrily.
"She won't leave her apartment Jack... do you want that? Do you want her to be afraid to fucking live her life? Because I don't. She is aware and acknowledges that she needs to be careful and that's enough" I say firmly because I'm not going to keep arguing about this with him.
"She's my best friend and sister Storm. I would do anything for her and I can't imagine someone hurting her. I know you love her and I respect that, I'm grateful for it even but when she does find out... because she will, she's going to be upset"
"We'll have to deal with it when the time comes then. Right now we're all on alert and hopefully they move onto something else and it's all just bullshit" he nods.
"I sure hope so" he says with a sigh. We toss our bags in the back of my truck and climb inside and we're both quiet until he looks over at me and opens his mouth "If anything happens to her again... I won't forgive you for it. Especially if letting her know could have prevented it"
The atmosphere shifts between us and I take his threat seriously. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself either and I know deep down, he knows that to. I give him a serious nod and he switches up the playlist but we don't speak again the whole ride to the house. I end up just dropping him off and then picking up some burgers from the best diner in town, with a couple milkshakes and fries then heading to Fey's apartment.
My hands are full when I get to her front door and right as I'm about to knock it opens and Kenzie appears "Hey Storm, she's in her room. I was going to meet up with Jack"
"How is she?" she half smiles.
"She claims that she's fine but I know she's on edge" she holds the door open for me to step inside.
"Being there for her is enough though. She feels the safest with you" she says with a smile and then walks off.
I close the door with my foot and then lock it before setting everything down on the counter. I wipe my hands and then walk down the hallway and see her door partly open "Knock, knock" I say and she looks up from the book she's been reading.
