Where Has The Time Gone?

Two Years Later

We got the call hours ago that Kenzie's water broke, so we jumped in the car with Rowan in to and headed straight to the hospital. Jack and Kenz moved to Boston a year ago after Jack was traded over to the Bruins. It feels like our college days, the four of us living here again together and the boys playing on the same team. Having them here has been amazing, and now we'll get to raise our kids together. They're having a little girl, so we constantly joke about how they will fall in love when they're older and get married one day. The boys don't find it funny, but we do.

When we get to the hospital Kenzie's parents and mine are already there. They flew out here a few days ago in hopes that her water would break on time and luckily it did. I hand Rowan over to my mom and go into the delivery room with Laura, Kenzie's mom.

"How are you doing?" I ask as I take in the pained look on her face.

She takes big breaths in and then out "I feel like my vagina is going to rupture" she says humorously.

I reach for her and she squeezes my hand "Luckily it won't, you're a boss ass bitch Kenz. This is nothing... you can do this" I say to her and she nods while she let's out a shriek.

Her mom is on her other side giving her breathing instructions and Jack walks back in the room with a nervous look on his face "Ready to be a dad?" I ask.

"Terrified, but ready" he jokes and kisses her on the forehead.

The doctor and nurses come in to check on her and see how dilated she is. They check her heart rate and make sure that the baby is still doing okay. She chews on ice cubes and all we can do right now is wait until she's ten centimeters, so she can start pushing. I leave her with Jack for a moment and walk to the waiting room to check on Storm and Rowan.

I smile when I round the corner and see Rowan on Cassius's lap, playing with him. Storm comes into view with coffee in hand and gives one of them to me "How is she?" he asks and we take a seat next to Cassius and my mom.

"She's good, in pain and only six centimeters dilated so we just have to wait" he nods.

A couple hours later, I'm asleep on Storm's shoulders when Laura comes out to get me "She's going to start pushing" she says.

I immediately jump up and follow her to the room. The door closes so its's just the doctor, nurses, Laura, Jack and I. Her mom is on one side and then me and Jack are on the other as the doctor starts to instruct her to push. She holds onto Jack's hand and screams through each push, Laura and I coach her along the way. Things are moving along smoothly and everything seems normal until it's not.

I see the look on the doctors face as he brings a nurse in closely a whispers into her ear. Jack gives me a look like he can tell something is also going on. I notice blood coming out of her down below and my heart starts to race "Okay we're going to clear the room now" one of the nurses says and walks over to walks us out.

"What? Why? What's going on?" Laura asks sounding confused and distraught.

"Why do they have to leave?" Kenzie asks and I notice her face turning pale.

"I have some concerns but right now we need to make sure the baby is okay" he says as we get ushered to the door.

"Doc what the hell is going on?" Jack asks now sounding frustrated.

"Right now I need everyone out" he says seriously and we walk out, with the door closing in our faces.

My mom walks around the corner and rushes over to us "Is everything okay?"
