FLASHBACK CONT…

“Get up babe!” Aston said, shaking my shoulder slightly. His voice was clearly excited and by his mannerisms I could tell he’d been up for a while and was now wide awake.

“Whaaa?” I groaned, pulling the duvet up higher.

“We’ve gotta go!”

“Go where?” I asked, not sure what he was talking about.

“Out! Come on!”

“Out where?” I questioned again, “I was planning on having a long lie in and then doing absolutely nothing today.”

“Change of plans,” Aston said, “Get up!”

“Where are we going though?”

“Surprise! Chop chop we’re going to be late!”

“Late for what?” I mumbled as I dragged myself out of bed and into the en suite. I looked a mess but I didn’t really have much energy to do more than throw my hair in a ponytail and put on some jeans and a t-shirt. Life had been a whirlwind lately, and I finally had a quiet weekend at home to recuperate. Or so I thought!

The weather outside was nice and Aston and I drove through town a bit, parking up outside of an office.

“What the hell Ast?” I muttered when I realized where we were, an estate agent’s.

“Right so…”

“Yeah, you definitely have some explaining to do.”

“We are going to be late for our appointment if I give you the long version right now,” Aston said, “So short version… I think we should buy a new place.”

“Right...” I replied, confused. I was perfectly happy with our current place, why did we have to move?

“Long version later,” Aston grinned, jumping out of the car.

I sat and scowled for a minute before getting out and following him into the office. I still had no idea what had prompted this sudden desire to move and really I didn’t want to go through all of the trouble of packing up with how busy things were. But Aston seemed excited so I figured I’d humor him for the day.

Within a half hour we were driving around town looking at a whole list of homes the estate agent had picked out.

“Ast this place is nice,” I sighed as I walked through another home, “But I don’t see the need to move.”

“Well,” Aston said, “You said you wished you had a piano room.”

“I mean I guess… I don’t have to have one though. Please don’t tell me you want to move just so I can have one?!”

“No no!” Aston replied, “I just started thinking about things. Our current place is great but it’s kind of a bachelor pad.”

“Not really.”

“It so is,” Aston said, “And well… I’m not really a bachelor anymore.”

I furrowed my brow at him, looking around the place we were in. It was sort of small and didn’t have that homey feel I liked.

“So you want to buy a house?” I asked.

“I want to have a place that’s ours,” Aston shrugged, “That has room for both our things.”

“I mean that’s sweet,” I said, squeezing Aston’s hand in my own, “But I don’t want to jump into this all so fast.”

“Let’s just look at the last few places,” he said, “Then we’ll talk about it. There’s no rush.”
