Y/n's POV

Sitting in my converted loft with Reba I raise an eyebrow at what she's describing for the dress she's asked me to help her with, is this woman crazy? An emerald green bodice dress is one thing but one with a train the length she wants is crazy! Even if it is a removable train that's going to be a health and safety hazzard not to mention the weight of the material dragging behind her. Rubbing my forehead as she continues to talk I jot down the odd note here and there while biting my lip.

"Do you think that we can do it?" She asks me while biting her lip and I fix my glasses as I look at her before looking back at my notebook in thought. "Oh god, there's a problem isn't there?"

"I'm just worried about how we would even make a train that long without it being a health and safety hazzard ma'am." I tell her honestly and she slumps back in defeat as she throws her hands up.

"Dammit! I thought that it was the perfect idea as well." She says and I bite my lip as I try to figure out a way to do it safely for her and a few ideas pop into my head. "And I've already told you, it's just Reba. We've known each other long enough that you don't need to call me ma'am anymore y/n." She tells me with a chuckle that I join her in.

"Sorry Reba, it's just been ingrained in my mind that you call people sir and ma'am." I admit with a chuckle making her laugh as well. "You want the train to be the same emerald green as the rest of the dress, right?" I ask her as I turn my attention back to what we were talking about and she nods in return. Smiling at her I make a quick note in the notebook before looking over at my workstation. "Okay, I'm not saying that I can't do a train that long it's just going to be a challenge to find a suitable fabric that I can get in the exact same shade as the rest of the dress but isn't too heavy that it would weigh you down." I tell her as I get up from my chair and move over to my desk to grab some fabric samples before moving back over to her and she sits forward with wide eyes.

"Wait, so you're not saying that I can't have a train that long? You're just saying that it's all a matter of finding the right material?" She asks me and I nod making her grin before I turn my attention back to the fabric samples. "Is there anything else you're worried about or is it just the train?"

"Honestly, the dress in itself isn't going to be a problem once I get your measurements and you approve a rough sketch. I could have that done by the end of the day for you Reba, all you really need to do is choose which fabric you prefer for the main dress." I tell her honestly and wince as a bit of my accent comes out before I clear my throat making her look at me confused. "Now, if you like I can take your measurements now to save you from having to come in for an extra appointment." I add and she nods with a smile but before she can say anything there's the sound of heels coming upstairs making me look towards them confused. Other than Reba I had no appointments today and I wasn't expecting anyone to come round.

"Y/n? Are you in here darling?" Mum calls out and I stand up quickly to walk over to the stairs where mum appears with a grin. "Ah! There you are! I was wondering if you could help me with something. Oh, sorry I didn't realise you had company. I can come back later if you want."

"Please don't leave on my account Loretta, I'm just picking y/n's brain about this dress." Reba says as she walks over to mum who quickly pulls the redhead into a hug while raising an eyebrow at me. I hadn't told mum that I was helping Reba out with this and I know there's going to be questions later when we're alone.

"Don't be silly mum, you're always welcome here. Whether I have company or not." I say with a chuckle as I move over to my workstation and drop my notebook on it. Frowning at my phone when it rings I pick it up and reluctantly answer it when I don't recognise the number. "Hello?"
