WITH LITTLE TO NO EFFORT, DAMON CAN DESTROY PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING, BUT HE'S NEVER DONE A GOOD DEED JUST AS EASILYTired of waiting and pacing around the grounds of the old Fell's Church, he makes an urgent phone call.
After the third ring, she finally answers, "Hey."
"Hey."
A brief silence passes.
"You disappeared."
"Yeah, um..."
The pause in her speech makes him slightly nervous, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I wanted to check on Caroline, but she was still passed out. Actuality, I was about to call you."
"Oh?"
"I heard what Logan said about knowing another way to get inside the tomb, I just wanted to know what you planned to do after everything."
"What do you mean?"
"After...after you get Kathrine back."
The mention of her name coming from Bonnie is more than strange.
" 'Not sure. I haven't planned that far ahead," He lets out a weak laugh, hating how he was lying through his teeth. He's fantasied about the 'after' for over a century, but he at least has the common sense to keep that bit of information to himself, "Why?"
A soft sigh, "I wanted to make you a deal."
Smiling to himself, he responds, "Last time I made a deal with a witch, it didn't pan out so well. I've learned my lesson."
"It serves both of our common interests."
"How?"
"I can help you get her back, find a loophole. My Grams is bound to know something or I can raid her grimoires, maybe get some answers."
Still not understanding why she would do this for him, he asks, "What's in it for you?"
"You leaving town," Damon's face drops at the catch, "I help you and if everything works out, you have to leave Mystic Falls and never come back. No surprise visits or pop ins- for good."
"Oh." Is all he can say, completely unsure about how to process her request, admittedly finding it hard to digest.
"And no more innocent lives must be taken from now on, deal?"
The abrupt and firm tone almost cuts him.
"Yeah, sure-deal."
The line cuts off.
Any hopes he's gained from their moment at the boardinghouse is lost.
The situation is disappointing, but not surprising.
He lied to her, used her best friend as a blood bag slash unwilling puppet, strong armed her into getting the crystal and despite it not being her fault, punished her for the destruction of said crystal by tearing into her throat and nearly killing her so...
He understands now that she probably wants nothing to do with him.
Before he can dwell on the conversation any further, his phone buzzes.
"Hello."
Sheriff Forbes's voice comes through on the other line, "I just wanted to say thank you, I don't know how you did it."
"Um," He hesitates at the words, "Not following."
"We found Logan's body up by the old Fell warehouse, he has been disposed of. He was hoarding victims, innocent victims."
