Kehlani moved the few strands of hair out of her face as she made her way towards the sliding doors. She shielded her eyes away from the sun that had no intention of hiding behind clouds today. She opened her phone, looking at the weather app. "Damn, the sun not going no where today." She mumbled to herself. She put the sunglasses on the bridge of her nose that were sitting on the top of her head.

She sighed softly, pulling out her keys and unlocking her car. She took her time getting into her BMW as she connected her phone to the car. Before she could though, she heard her phone ringing, and by the ringtone, she knew it was her mama. She answered it without delay, putting the phone to her ear as she closed her car door.

"Hey mama." She says into the phone. She could hear shuffling, so she could tell her mama was doing something other than sitting down.

"Hey Kehlani, you on your way to pick my grandbaby up?" Kehlani rolled her eyes. "Yes mama, I just got off work, I'm on my way to the daycare right now." She put her keys into the ignition, starting the car. "Okay, I'm just making sure, you still coming over for dinner at my house right?" Kehlani connected her phone to the car, so her mama could be on speaker. "Yes mama, I'm bringing Aria too if that's okay with you."

She heard her mama on the other line laugh. "You know she can come, she's my second daughter." Kehlani began making her way towards the daycare. "Maybe even your favorite." She mumbled. "I heard that little girl, now make sure y'all be here before 9 okay?" Kehlani turned right at an intersection. "Okay mama, we will, love you." The call ended soon after, and Kehlani sighed.

She had been working hard for a promotion at her job for a few months now, and she didn't want to bother her mama with Kadek, so she took him to a daycare she knew she could trust. It's not like her mama really cared, but Kehlani didn't like the idea nonetheless.

She pulled up to the daycare parking lot, parking into one of the spots closest to the door. She stepped out of the car, putting the sunglasses back on. She could already hear the kids inside yelling and playing. She smiled to herself, making her way to the door.

The first thing she saw as she always did when she walked in was the lady sitting at the desk. She had her glasses perched on the end of her nose, typing slowly on the keypad of her computer. Kehlani stood in front of the desk smiling at the lady. "Hey Mrs. Morris, I'm here to get Kadek." She slowly looked up from her computer at Kehlani. "Oh, hello Kehlani looking beautiful as always." Kehlani smiled. "The same to you Mrs. Morris." She typed a little more on her computer before looking back at Kehlani. "We'll get him ready to go then." Kehlani nodded, making her way to one of the benches near the entrance.

She pulled out her phone scrolling through Instagram while she waited for Kadek. It didn't take long, as she heard little feet coming towards her at a fast speed. "Mama!" She heard her son's voice say. Kehlani stood up from where she was sitting, scooping up Kadek from the floor and smothering him in kisses. "Ew, lipstick." He groaned. Kehlani giggled. Waving goodbye to Mrs. Morris.

She made her way to the car, opening the backseat door and putting Kadek into his car seat. "How was daycare today?" She asks him. "Kadek smiles, "It was good, we learned how to count to 30 today." Kehlani buckles the last thing on his car seat, smiling. "That's good." She says. She closes the door, getting into the front seat.

Kadek had always been a smart child. He started speaking full sentences when he was about to turn two. He was always mindful of the things he said and heard. Kehlani put the car in drive, making her way home.

It didn't take her long to get there since she lived near the daycare, which was convenient for her. She put the car in park, pulling out the key. "We're going to grandma's to eat tonight." She says to Kadek. She helps him out of the car, taking his hand in hers. "Is Aria and Trell coming too?" kehlani smiled to her self, nearing the elevator. "Just Aria this time Kadek." Kadek pouted, "But he never comes over no more." Kehlani pressed the button to the 6th floor. "He's just been.. busy, we can't do nothing about that baby." Kadek nodded his head. "Okay mama, but we will get to see him after right?" Kehlani nodded, "When he's done with whatever he's doing.
