The week before the debut for Dontrell and La'monte was a busy one. They've been to the studio at least every day since Dr. Bravo set the date for the debut. But, Kehlani could see that La'monte and Dontrell we're getting along enough to where they could work in the same room.
Kehlani sat in one of the chairs and let the music from the studio surround her. She had her eyes closed and was in her own world.
Kehlani knew that with the songs that La'monte and Dontrell we're making together, they would be one of the best up and coming artists.
A few hours had passed since she'd been in the studio, as she sat at her desk and sorted out files on her laptop. Dontrell sat in the room with her, almost asleep. Kehlani knew that he'd been working non-stop since last week, so she told herself not you bother him. But, she couldn't help but mess with him a little
"I hope you ready for next week since you think you can sit in my office and sleep." She picked up a file and eyed Dontrell.
He sighed and sat up in the chair. "I been ready Lani. You just make sure you managing or whatever you be doing." He smirked and put his head back down.
Kehlani rolled her eyes and looked back at the papers in front of her. Ever since she began working with Serene, she felt like her work load had been a little easy? She didn't know what to call it, but she felt like she wasn't doing as much as she wanted.
But every time she would ask Serene if she needed help with something, she would shut it down saying that she had it handled.
Kehlani didn't know if she was just good at what she did or she thought that Kehlani wasn't up for it. But, either way, Kehlani was questioning it. Right now she was going over the list of things that need to be at the site where the debut would be held. Right now, everything was going good.
She placed the papers back down on her desk and rested her head in her hands. "Where's La'monte, I haven't seen him in the office since earlier?" She asked Dontrell.
"Don't ask me, it ain't my job to take care of him." He shrugged. Kehlani rolled her eyes. "Get rid of that attitude Dontrell." She stood up and made her way towards him. She hit his feet that were on the couch and he moved them so she could sit beside him.
"What's up with you? You been acting different." She asked him. He didn't answer immediately, so she continued. "If it's about La'monte, then I can tell you now that he's the last thing on my mind-"
"I told La'monte that Kadek was his son." He blurted.
Kehlani's mouth hung open. She didn't move. How could he tell La'monte that? He had no right to. She looked down at her lap.
"Look, I'm sorry Lani, but... it just came up in conversation and I was mad at him and-"
She cut him off. "And what?! Knowing you, you probably said it out of anger. You had no right to tell him!" She stood up from the couch. "Dontrell... I get that you're... in love with me, and you didn't mean it in any way, but you can't just do stuff like that." She grabbed her purse. "I don't even know if I want him to be around my son, and you went and told him."
She walked near the door and reached for the knob, when Dontrell's hand went on top of hers. "Lani, I'm sorry." He put his other hand on her shoulder to turn her around. "Look at me."
She didn't move at first, but turned toward him, looking at the floor. She felt the tears forming, but she wouldn't let them fall.
"Lani, look at me." He placed his hand under her chin and lifted it. "Im sorry." His eyes locked with hers and she almost forgot why she was mad at him.
