Kehlani's breathing was shallow and slow. The air around her was suffocating as she slowly opened her eyes to see that she was in the floor beside her bed. She felt like there was water on her feet. She looked down to see a dark liquid beneath her.

Blood.

She held her stomach as a shocking sharp pain hit her. It hurt too bad to make any noise. She tried to reach her phone, so she could call someone.

Anyone.

'La'monte, where did you go?'

Kehlani shot up in her bed with sweat pouring down her forehead.

That dream again.

She sighed, trying to get her breathing back to normal. The covers were suffocating her at that moment. She kicked them off and looked at the clock beside her. 7:40am. She had woken up 20 minutes early.

The sun shined brightly in her room, and she slowly got out of bed. The covers beside her shuffled a little. Kadek still slept soundly, as if he heard nothing.

Kehlani sighed softly, as she rubbed her son's back. "Kadek, it's time to get up." Kadek slowly opened his eyes. He looked up at Kehlani and smiled. "G'morning mommy, I had a good dream!" He sat up quickly.

Kehlani laughed. "Oh, what was it about?" She watched Kadek's eyes shift around the room as if he was trying to remember. "Me and you were having fun at the park!" Kehlani smiled, getting off of her bed. "That sounds like fun, but we need to get ready." She lifted him off the bed, and watched him run to his room to get ready.

She quickly went to her closet to go find something to change into. The fresh scent of freshly washed clothes calmed her down a little, as she picked an outfit from one of her many hangers.

She made her way towards her vanity. She began to apply her makeup, as Kadek made his way back into her room. "I'm ready mama!". Kehlani smiled and looked at him in the mirror behind her. "Alright," she grabbed her keys to her car. "Grandmas' gonna pick you up today, mommy has to work late today."

She watched Kadek's face turn into a pout, but it quickly subsided. "Okay!" He skipped out of Kehlani's room. She sighed and headed towards the front door. Kadek sat at the entrance, struggling to put on one of his shoes. Kehlani laughed, squatting in front of him.

"Need some help?" She reached for the shoe, but Kadek snatched it away. "It's okay, I got it!" He said stubbornly. Kehlani crossed her arms, but didn't stop him from trying.

Several seconds passed, and his shoe still wasn't on. Kehlani sighed to herself, and reached for the shoe again. "Next time you can put the shoes on yourself." Kehlani was about to take it, when he snatched it again. "I can do it!" He yelled. Kehlani leaned back, shocked.

He had never yelled at her like that before. She knew something was wrong.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She placed her hand on his lap. She could tell that he was struggling to hold in his tears.

He placed his hand on top of hers. "I... you don't spend time with me anymore, it's like you want to work all the time!" A few tears slipped from his eyes.

Kehlani bit the inside of her cheek. This was the first time that Kadek showed himself so vulnerably around her. He never was clingy either. She picked him up and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry Kadek, I've just had to work more because of my promotion and I didn't know you felt like this."

She adjusted him so that he was looking at her. "How about I stay with you today? We can do whatever you want." She rubbed her thumb over one of his tear drops. A smile slowly appeared on his face, as he nodded.
