I'm lost to
life's last lament,
scrabbling to find
the healing
in each fresh torment;
maybe I'm cursed,
for I've been punished
too many times,
for what feels like a million
elusive and nebulous crimes;
and I wish for an ending,
a soulful reprieve,
an inkling of when
these troubles
will eventually leave.
